Watch your bank statements!

I got hit by this and was wondering if anyone else has encountered it.

Awhile back I had a couple of fraudulent charges show-up on credit card statements, each <$10. One I recall was shown as an entity in Cyprus, and the toll-free telephone number was incomplete (imagine that). I had no trouble having the charges voided and a new account established. My thinking is these cretins are making hay with folks who only look at the bottom line on their statements and thus overlook small charges they didn't make.

Good Idea

Following the links provided in the first post points to a very good idea. Which is narrowing it down to what companies were possibly involved in releasing credit card information. These scammers can't just grab your card info out of the air and most of the time it gets tracked back to a specific company involved.

While it is true that hackers do get card info offline, it is generally a company involved. Those companies should be publicized as much as possible.
