Do the extra sun gears in the VTD box cause higher drivetrain losses?

No idea Chike, don't know where the numbers came from. I doubt that the Euro would be slower that the US version, for a couple of reasons. The ECU does not have the leaner mapping of the more stringent pollution, US model, no lag. It also runs. the lower 3.7 diffs. I'll be going down to my sons place soon, so I'll do some G-Tec Pro runs to see what it does.

No as I stated the whole set-up revolves as a solid unit, would be the same as the Transfer system. The two systems would be no different on straight line acceleration.

Harv,

Every single article I've read of a Euro or OZ SVX (with VTD) had a 0-60mph time in the 8+ second range. The article at the start of this thread is a perfect example. Also on Jamsvx's site, he's archived several all with similar times.

For the US cars, the mags here got times in the low to mid 7 second range - Road & Track, Motortrend and Car & Driver. Jamsvx's site also has these articles as well...

Well thats the problem with believing everything that you read. A lot of the "road tests" that the Journalists write, are just a repeat of someone elses writing. And most of them come from the Road and Track artical. I remember one done in Aust, that had pics of a LHD car, and quoted the diff ratio as 3.5.

What I never got around to doing was copying the back of car magazines from 1992 to 1997 - they showed the name, price, power, 0-100kph etc for virtually all cars so in Oz at that time...interesting to see the quoted 0-100 times drop over the 5 years..the initial ones could only have been achieved if you missed a turn and went over a ravine...in later years, they became more accurate......but they never did a 5kph - 100kph.....rolling starts were much much better...wasn't that right Mr Boxster try hard yuppie in a Porsche trying to cut me off... opps..sorry!!

*Cassie delivered an ear bashing to me on that one - great co-pilot not!!*
