Your SVX caught on fire? I realize that the pic is not of your car but your wording implies that your did catch fire but not as severely (unless I interpreted it incorrectly).

I watched a car burn in the parking lot of a local grocery store. The fire dept showed up in record time. It's a very fascinating thing to see but I hope to God it never happens to one of my vehicles.

My brother was visiting me a few years ago in VT. When it was time for him to leave, he went to get his car so he could load his stuff. About two minutes after he moved his car my neighbor's VW Rabbit, which he had just been parked next to, burst into flames.

It wasn't the only time that old Camry of his avoided certain death.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

Little fire...

After the traney blew up (not an exageration, I may need to post a picture, entire top of the case exploded) the oil got onto the exhaust catching fire and I didn't have a fire extinguisher, of course it's 11:00pm, so I go banging on the front door of the nearest house, but not one light comes on so I go tearing arround untill I find a hose, water wasn't the right way to extinguish, but it was all I had. The hose wasn't attached to the spigot so I had to figure that out in the dark too Car was left mostly intact!

Not quite, it needs a new wiring harness (on the car side) now! Burned through both traney connections now it still dosn't shift right, so it sits!

With the top of the case blown off, I'm hardly surprised that it 'doesn't shift right.'

Yeah, I wanna see pictures of that. Never heard of an SVX tranny actually breaking the case like that. Diffs, yeah.

Quite the story, Karl. I'm glad that you were able to save your car.
