Stock ALternator Ground?

OK. first off. I understand the SVX comes with a high current stock alternator. I have a hi-fi stereo which keeps getting what sounds like alternator noise. I've grounded everything from the battery to amps really well and also grounded the battery to chassis and motor mounts. Also, high current wire from alt. to battery. I can't find a ground wire to establish a better connection on the alternator. I am assumung that it is an internally grounded alt that is grounded through it's chassis to the car. Help!

Do you have pach cables runing between two amps.
If you do you mite have a ground loop.

I did. I fixed it by installing a ground loop isolator.

though I'm not a car stereo expert, i think alt noise comes more from the quality of the wiring and the quality of the amplifier. plenty of top of the line companies (eclipse, soundstream, etc.) sell 5 channel amps that are designed to run highs, mids, and subs all in one. many installers will run the power wire on the opposite side of the car from the RCA cables and speaker wires to reduce alt noise.

as AFBeefcake suggested, i'd get a ground loop isolator for each RCA cable line running to your amp. (usually one each for highs, mids, and sub depending on your set up).

The alternator grounds to the engine block, which in turn grounds via a thick cable from the upper starter retaining bolt to the battery. You can clean all the connection points or install a secondary ground directly from the alternator to the battery.
