First Australian SVX Drive Day
Well, yesterday (Sunday 7 October 2001), we had the first Australia SVX Owner's Drive Day/Meet.
There were two SVX's (Harvey's and Blake's) and myself (in a Camry!) but three others could not come due to other committments! I had a great time and some photo's (courtesy of Harvey) are in the photos section on http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/australiansvxclub Regards Jamsvx

Congratulations on your first meet! Word will spread and next time you will, indeed, have more owners in attendance.
How many SVXs were exported to Australia?

James,
Great to hear you guys are getting together. Keep it up, and keep up the search for your own. You're well past deserving it.

There were 250 brought into Oz and I know that one crashed so 249 left...not many at all. In any event, I had a great time! If I get to the US, I'll have to come along to a US meet Regards and thanks James

Hello James - I hope you can find the the other 200+ owners someday. A stupid Yank question - What sort of speed limits are imposed upon you folks "down under"? I always pictured long straight roads between the cities as the world's longest drag strips. G'day, Mate. Ron

The whole speed thing is a bit of a draconian thing at the moment:
40kph in school zones 50 kph in urban residential areas 60kph on some roads 70kph on other 80kph on even more 90kph on some sections of freeway 100kph on other sections of freeway 110kph...maximum A mess...as you can see....frequently you can hit 3 zones in the space of 2km.....and now they are putting in stationary speed cameras left right and centre. A total missing of the point altogther! The Northern Territory has unlimited speeds but! 1) Other traffic 2) Even the finest engineering from Subaru Heavy INdustries will see an SVX come off second best if it hits a kangaroo at full chat! And if you hit a wombat...well, SVX goes flying! Thats how the first SVX was destroyed...the owners swerved to avoid a wombat (dense, low centre of gravity...a mobile speed hump!) and went into a tree....he bought another one! Anyways, back in Ireland the roads of Europe were relatively close....a transcontinental blast in an SVX would be awesome! Thanks James

Jams,
G'day. I'm glad you enjoyed your first SVX meet. I hope that you have many, many more. I think that you will get one soon. Randy will have his Pearlie up for sale as soon as he gets his "purdy yella" one. I wish I had known about your meet sooner. Svxit and I would have shared the driving duties to Oz. His Pearlie has the amphibious option package. Larry III PS: Great pictures. PPS Randy: They don't have quid in Australia, but they do have squid. |

All us Irish look alike. It's the weather. We look so white to youse Yanks. I have your personal piece of Yellow Peril. My tranny guy in the UK sent it over with the parts consignment. Is your address in your folder, I will post it on? You can have it mounted, or have a ceremonial pyre. BTW James, saw your pix from the inaugural Oz meet. Good Going!! Tell Harvey car polish must be cheap Down Under, or else mud doesn't stick at low velocity. Randy, I have seen James in photos. You will have no trouble telling us apart. James has hair, and I am handsome. Joe

Ole Yeller
Nope
A hairless Irishman. Much more deadly. And forget the secret address trick. Kentucky is a small place. The truth will find you. The truth is out there, and it's yellow!!!! Joe
