That would depend on where it's scratched. I know there is more disassembly to that piece but it shouldn't be hard to get into (I hope).

I was looking at that picture and noticed the power side-view mirror was lit. Are they all like this, cause mine has never been on before.

OK, I just ripped that sucker apart and sure enough, there is a little LED light in there with a green slide on condom like thingy. I am sure radio shack has them in those nifty little tool boxes they have. Hopefully this will fix it. Tell me tho, do the defrost switch, hazard button, window lock, and auto up window switch light up too? Maybe I will go RRRRRIIIIP that apart too. Hee Hee. It's 2:07 in the morning and pouring rain. Am I insane? Yes. Insane about MY BABY.

How did it go getting those switch clusters out? It's always fun the first time but once you figure it out it's easy.

A tiny flat screw driver (preferably plastic if possible) will help.

HA!!! I never got that far. When I disarmed my alarm the door locks siezed up again. This time, BOTH. I was out there in the rain until the sun came up trying to get my system out of the back so I could crawl through the folded down rear seats and mess with it inside. Glad it was there or the seat would have been up. Now another day of working on a car with one side unlocked and one locked, but neither one actually moving up or down. Fun Fun Fun

Great job on the instructions and pics! Suggestions for the night shots: Tripod, slower exposure (some digital cameras have a separate setting for this), self-timer (so the camera stops moving between the time you press the shutter release button and the time it actually takes the picture). Also, on mine I tricked it into not complaining about low light and inability to focus by lighting my target with a flashlight, pressing the shutter release, then turning off the flashlight before the camera actually snapped the picture.

Speaking of 5-speeds: When I upgrade mine (someday), I'd love to put a new label in the dash (R, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, N) and make the lights work. I wonder if there's anything about the 5-speed mod that would prevent that? (e.g., needing to permanently wire the "N" switch so you can start the engine? or would that now be tied to the clutch?)

No tripod and no adjustments for low light on my camera. (HP 315)

I was trying to rest the camera on something while taking the pictures (like the steering wheel).

If I was more patient I would have been able to do a better job.

(thinking about video based how-to's)
