Transmission pan

After waiting for so long to get my SVX back from the Trans shop, It went back in again. The pan was leaking.
They have the car for 3 weeks and keep giving me excuses that they can't find the correct one. They don't know which transmission I have (my car is a Frankenstein with different Trans parts from different Subarus). That's funny, they are the ones that rebuilt it.
Anyway, they finally found out that Subaru does not make that particular pan anymore. So they ordered a used one. They said they will repair mine until the part comes in so I can have the car back. Does this sound strange?
Any information about the Transmission pans being discontinued on certain models?

Re: Transmission pan

What's wrong with repairing yours and driving it forever or until it leaks again. Is it rusted out and springing huge leaks. It's not like it's under a lot of pressure or anything.

Also from the serial number on the tranny they can tell exactly which one it is. Many members of this forum could tell you the model of car the tranny came from by the numbers if you gave them to them.

Re: Transmission pan

Oh,
you are referring to the automatic transmission pan used on all 4EATs from like 1988 through 1999?
How many would you like me to send them.....
Just pay for shipping and you will get one from me.

Re: Transmission pan

They finally got the pan and installed it for free. It was a 1999-2002 Forester's transmission pan.

Thanks. After having my car for a year to do a trans rebuild, it's the least that they can do to compensate their frankenstein project.
