Brake rotor

Can they be purchased separately. I have the Cross drilled on the car. I had a caliper dragging and my have warped it. ( is that possible.? ) I thought they were really hard to warp. The guy that did the brakes did not lube the slides. Only drove it 200 miles like that. Checking it out tonight. Where would I get just one cross drilled rotor?

Re: Brake rotor

John, do yourself a favor and replace both. Its always better to replace in pairs whenever possible. You can find some good ones on ebay. I would order new pads as well. If you want no dust, use the Akebono pads, I have been using them for many years now.

Re: Brake rotor

If only one brake is stopping the car. Left rear , would the shutter?

Re: Brake rotor

why not just get it turned? usually $20 per rotor around here. also some people don't realize that some brake lubricants aren't compatible. i see lots of subarus with this same issue because someone used the cheap moly grease from autozone and it combines with the subaru synthetic grease to make a hard glue like paste.

Re: Brake rotor

New plain rotors are $35 each at Auto Zone. For $15 I would go with new ones. Faster turn around. Take off old replace with new. Not have to wait for Old Tony to fire up the Lathe I want to replace the cross drilled ones I have on the car. Auto Zone wants $115 each.
Ordered on E bay $60 each have them by Wed. Works out good Thurs is my next day off.

Re: Brake rotor

Rotors came in. I did not realize they were so Dang heavy. No wonder the SVX weights so much. Go to be 20 lbs each ( rears). I hope it turns out to be just a sticking slide on the bracket not a caliper. Any thoughts?

Cool Re: Brake rotor

Yes they are super heavy - I got a full set sent to me in New Zealand from R1 Concepts (drilled / slotted / gold passivated).

A lot cheaper than buying OEM locally....
