Cars Comparable with SVX

After driving the SVX for a little today i still cant believe how well it handles. It got me thinking. What cars are there comparable to the SVX. What cars would be nice and balanced on the road and in the snow like the SVX?

There has never been a car that is comparable to the SVX ever!
However I MIGHT have a biased opinion!

Re: Cars Comparable with SVX

It was made to compete with the non turbo Z's and the non turbo 3000 GT's at the time. There was a good market for those cars back then. Subaru tried to cash in on it.

Re: Cars Comparable with SVX

4WD Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo (Mitsu 3000GT) of the same era is quite comparable I would say. 300hp or so, 4 WS, power everything including the rear wing.
I've always wanted one of them also.

Actually the wing controls itself. It raises and lowers depending on your speed.

Re: Cars Comparable with SVX

True that.

But we have speed sensitive wipers! That's pretty sweet too!

And without sounding too cliche, I also think there is no car directly comparable to the SVX. The vr-4 maaaayyybe, but it and the SVX were two different animals. The vr-4 was more sport-luxury, and the SVX was more luxury-sport. If subaru'd have been crazy enough to build a twin turbo monster, there would have been even less of them though. They'd have cost $40k USD, and no one would have bought it.

I'm sure the vr-4 wouldn't have been horrible in the winter, but subie's awd systems have always been superior, in my opinion. I would much rather have the SVX in snow than a VR-4. And honestly, how many vr-4's ever saw snow anyway? I'd bet not many.

Completely stock VR-4's still go for 17K on average.... the average SVX goes for like 3K only a heavily modified SVX will go for 8K Don't get me wrong I love my SVX, but the VR-4 was hella more successful than our baby.

Honestly I've driven a 3000gt LS with VR-4 turbo's on it only pushing 5lbs of boost and I have to say it handled like a beast... but my SVX was hella more ballsy. The 3000gt is the closest car drivability wise that I've ever felt was comparable feeling to driving my SVX 5mt

I think the true comparison would be a TT built SVX and a VR-4 then you could actually tell. however the VR-4 has 4ws we don't... I dunno I love both cars

Re: Cars Comparable with SVX

Thanks for the responses everyone. I agree that there is no car really directly along the lines of the svx. I have seen a vr-4 at the track and it destroyed everything there. (it was an oval track)

I think you've slightly misread what I was saying. I'm not saying at all that the vr4 was unsuccessful. In fact, I agree completely with everything you just said. I'm saying that IF subie had built a ttsvx, it would have been priced even higher and had even less buyers. That doesn't reflect at all what market values would be. Of course if we HAD a ttsvx, the market value would be much higher because they would have been seen as a car with "modability" and it would be more sought after now.

I'm just saying it's about the only car that on paper has some of the same stats. The main criteria being an AWD coupe. Sure, a better apples to apples comparison would be a 95 fwd svx vs. a 95 fwd atx 3kgt SL. But that's not top-of-the-line for either, so I was just throwin' it out there.

I'm just saying that it is the car that is most easily comparable to the SVX.

But I completely agree with somethingelse too, everytime I see a 1g talon, I do a double take! I was just telling one of my buddies that the other night! haha
