i was thinking about the ez30 motor also, i just don't know the exterior dimensions.

Ahh!!! Just beat me to it! haha

I was gonna say the same thing. The EZ36 is a bit of an oddball really.

I would choose the EZ30 myself. Seems much more "modifiable" if you ask me. Just look at the Perrin H6 turbo build!

And for curiousity sake... How do the 30 and the 36 compare dimensionally?

Re: EZ36 swap

I think the 36 just has a longer stroke... I could be wrong though.

Re: EZ36 swap

The EZ30 And EZ36 are both a lot smaller dimensionally (and much lighter!) than our EG33.

The EZ36 has weird bent connecting rods to allow for the longer stroke, while keeping the block the same dimensions as the EZ30 had...

The EZ36 is 10.5:1 and the EZ30 is 10.7:1. Just had to it.

Re: EZ36 swap

DBW should be of little concern when swapping a motor like this. One swapping in such a motor can easily adapt a cable TB and external IAC with some simple work. Relatively easy in truth

I almost chose an EZ30 over the EG33 when I did the swap into the WRX. Availability was the final determining factor in the end but the EZ is a great motor to build on when using an aftermarket EMS. The stock EMS is not choice for a swap as the electronics around it are a bit more complicated than the EG and the harness is a nightmare to weed. Best to MS it on a budget, or go Autronic/Hydra if you're looking for a more fancy setup(nothing wrong with MS at all though!!)

The EZ36 Is a good motor for what it is in stock form. It makes great power and torque and is quite small and light for the size, even smaller than an aircooled flat 3.6 M64 from a 993. The only achilies heel it has are those damn asymetrical connecting rods in it to acheive that displacement.

I may eventually swap an EZ30 into my car if/when the EG pops. Trying to pull some weight off the nose of the car(EG33 in there + ~120lbs in skidplate and front crash beam.)

Of course not, and neither is the EG33. No n/a motor meant for n/a is going to be boost friendly other than some older iron block/iron head motors that ran around 9.5:1 compression, and even that doesn't allow for the high boost that a stock turbo or stock SC block can handle as far as boost...

Same bell housing as all the EJ, EG, and EZ stuff, so any Legacy, Impreza, or Forester tranny will bolt up to it....
