Removing rear side panels
the ones below the rear quarter glasses. Anybody have ever removed them successfully without breaking the inner tabs?
If so, HOW? Thanks

Re: Removing rear side panels
If you are referring to the inside panel, you need to remove the bottom half of the rear seats. Then remove two plastic screws on the panels (one on the floor and the other on the panel itself (you need to tilt the back of the rear seats forward to see it). Then you carefully pull out the bottom and lift to remove.

Re: Removing rear side panels
I think he means the rear quarter garnish. I broke almost all the clips and tabs off mine when I painted them so I had to order $30 in clips and use FUSOR 143 plastic epoxy to put them back on. I havn't found an easy way even the factory service manual is usless on this.

Re: Removing rear side panels
I broke the clips on my parts car. I think it would be pretty hard to get the clips out

Re: Removing rear side panels
I can't understand why the heck did they make these so hard to remove intact?
Guess they were aiming to pull some profit out of selling brand new ones...

Quote:
You are probably misunderstanding the original question; although he neglected to confirm it Danny is actually referring to the removal of the two plastic garnishes that are on the outside of the car, under the glass and forward of the trunk lid. In the second instance the rear speakers in the SVX are fitted to the rear window shelf. You have to remove the inner panels to get to the rear shelf, but they are not as hard to work on as the exterior trim. You will probably manage to remove them without breaking the 4 clips. Do you know how to remove the panels? Are you changing the rear speakers? Joe

Re: Removing rear side panels
He means the outside trim with the svx logo by guess. the interior quarter trim is very easy with 2 screws and a good pull.
