2008 AutoX Season is starting up

D.C. Area SCCA Test'n'Tune for members only is this weekend at FedEX. The Capitol Driving Club is holding their first event the following weekend at the Bowie Baysox stadium parking lot:

Saturday April 12th Autocross

Our next autox is SATurday April 12th at the Bowie Baysox Stadium in Bowie, MD.

Registration and tech inspection will be at 8:00 and will promptly close at 8:45 to try to accommodate the full field, while still giving 6 runs. You must be DONE by 8:45. So if you arrive at 8:00 you won't have a problem. Don't arrive at the last minute. If you don't get teched and registered by 8:45, you will lose your morning runs.

The event fee for the SATurday autocross is $25 for members and $35 for non-members at this event.

Reservations

Member reservations (or participants that will join the club upon showing up) for any events can be made at any time (see Schedule Section at www.capitaldrivingclub.com ) once the event is opened.

This event is filling up extremely quickly. So make your reservations ASAP if you wish to participate.

Open reservations for non-members for this event begin Friday April 4th (if there's any room left).

Freeze on New Memberships

We will not be accepting new members at this event, unless you had already informed us that you are joinin the club prior to March 30th.

If you had made arrangements to join the club, annual dues are $30 (12 months from the date you join the club).

So if you are joining at this event, you may reserve your slot now. Just use "0" as your member number and type, "I will be joining the club at this event" in the Notes Section in on-line reservation system.

Otherwise, non-members must wait until Friday April 4th to make your reservation.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Ed Chan

Racer X (aka BillStock 5.0) is still up at the AWD shop waiting for me to pick it up, so it looks like the Capitol Driving Club's event will be the first time it gets to stretch its legs (actually closer to my house than FedEX!). Lots of new "goodness" will get its shake down (GCs, camber/caster plates, HD front end links, HD rear top hats, front and rear subframe stiffeners, big PS cooler, 5 spd, and hopefully 295/35-17 A6 Hoosiers on all four corners)
-Bill
p.s. now, where's that poor little caged "RaceCar"???

Jerry,
Are there still plenty of openings in the May 3rd event? Haven't been up to scenic Wiley Ford to visit all the good SVX folks in a while

Okay, so what's with the STi logo thingie in the upper right hand corner of OT's posts now? Is it because he's such a special person?

Even though I won't be there (okay, in spirit maybe), here's the course layout for Sunday's Test'n'Tune at FedEx. Yes, the courses are alway on the order of 50 seconds or longer at FedEx.

I didn't see any 'GO-FAST' places on that map!!! Cumberland ALWAYS has a place where you can go 'TOO fast' and make a FOOL of yourself!

It's not looking good for me and April 13th... Looks like May 17th at MCAS New River is going to be my first one in the SVX...

I got the Front Top Hats, Front swaybar endlinks and all four Swaybar bushings installed just a few hours ago. Along with that I also got an oil change and power-steering system flush... But I'm still a ways away from the next Autocross as far as preperation goes and getting the SVX out to it... Still on the list is:

- Order new tires for the FD Wheels and get them mounted... (Bridgestone Potenza RE-01's)
- Order lugnuts for the FD wheels...
- Buy jack...
- Raise the rear suspension about 1 inch (did it in the front already now the rear needs to come up to match)...
- Get driveshaft lengthened to allow for more agressive (yet smooth) throttle usage during autocross.. I have the tapping under hard acceleration caused by using the spacer in the rear of the driveshaft instead of lengthing the front half for the 5MT swap (it's fine for daily driving, but annoying, and probably not good, when trying to get a good launch)...

Still a ways away, and the GI Bill only pays for so much at a time ...

~ Chris

Chris,
regular "acorn" lug nuts will work fine with the FD rims. If you're lucky, you might find an Advance Auto or Auto Zone that carries the open style so you can actually see the amount of thread engagement.
-Bill
p.s. how'd the end links work out?
