Ya, they theoretically should use die and check the valve seating. Also the way our valves are you need a jig to hold the head at the right angle in a press and a spring compressor adaptor. They already have it and should be checking the seating before installing the springs anyway so why re-invent the wheel.

No one currently offers head studs Headbolts.com is out of bolts for the EG33. It looks like Subaru is the only supplier right now

Check the cobb website. They offer APR head bolts for the 4 cyl. There are some mods that may need to be made to make them fit. I was thinking of doing this as well. If someone has their head bolts out of the car they could send them to them and see if they can put together a kit.

OBI - If you follow the thread, we are trying to get copper head gaskets made. So far 4 folks are interested including myself. It would be great to add another.

I still need a photo of the head gasket.

Mine probubly wont be in for a week or 2, but I'll let you know when I get them in. I was speaking to LAN about the gaskets. He said that we need to make certain they are the exact same thickness as the factory ones.

Yes that is huge. The difficult part is making sure it compresses with the stock torque values to the exact thickness. These folks are supposed to know what they are doing. If you like I can try it on my car first, and if it works out OK you can jump in.

Tom

Check this out http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/?id=2323

They have 11mm and 14 mm oversized studs for the EG 22. They might be able to check the fit and come up with a kit. I would be interested in these as well. You could check with ARP directly

You could also check with ARP Directly http://www.arp-bolts.com. There is some interesting information regarding the design of head bolts that we may perhaps need to consider.

Cobb also carries
main bearings http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/?id=2322

rod bearings http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/?id=2321

I know you already ordered or are going to order clevit bearings, this is for other folks who are still trying to decide. I will probably also go with eagle rods, and a good aftermarket bearing.

Well I need to get bearings and bolts or studs anyway, so who wants to look into it? I'm currently looking into a set of rods myself. I waiting to hear back from Eagle to see if the know anything about using there EJ20/22 rods in a EG33. I figure it's $400 for a set to go a 4cyl, so if they can be used I'm figureing around $600.

The EJ 22 rods should bolt in. If you need to get them in sets of 4 we can do like Tom and LAN(?) did and buy 3 sets and split the third.

As for head studs, I would be happy to do it, but my motor is not out yet. You could send them ARP or COBB and see what they say. They should match up well to an EJ22 kit.

COBB has nothing and ARP is apparently working on coming up with studs for the new 6 cylinder subie blocks...think big bucks

we aren't splitting a set. The sets are weight ballanced. Eagle is putting sets of 6 together especially for me. How ever many sets I've been paid for by tomorrow I will order Friday. So get your money in
