Got mine done pretty cheap!!
Not the best way but maybe not the worst way, maybe the cheapest way.
I got both sides done on my mazda but it's the similar thing. Bought a set of CV boot kits including both sides' inner and outer boots with clamps and greases for only eight dollars(someone I know) Went to a friend of mine's work place who has the good tools. Took the driveshafts out, clean, check the gears inside(look good), put the new grease in and seal it. No clicking noise till now. Work like new. I was driving with cracked CV boot about 1-2 thousands miles. Now both have been reconditioned. No leak or anything. I have already put 8-9 thousands miles ... still good...I think it will last long. For almost 130K, I still have the original driveshaft. Got both side done about 30mins with an oil change. Charge me $30 bucks for labor. Very happy...can't beat that.

Hmm..
I checked mine this morning, This is the boot that goes behind the brakes/hub (if looking from the Wheel) right?
I noticed mine was covered in some sort of oil, I know my Power steering system is leaking oil, Is this Part of the drive shaft assembly? or below it? Leak sources? It looks like my car is spotting whenever i park after a long drive. Someone please point out a link for a diagram..... |

I usually just get them from a local parts place, usually have a lifetime warrenty, and are close by if yo9u have to exchange it....
But for the best axles, try Raxles(I think that the correct name) out of FL.....

They've got them for $80 at advance auto with a lifetime warrantee : http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...pe=945&PTSet=A
Is there a difference between 2 & 4 wheel drive halfshafts? Because AP lists diff prices. You can get the halfshaft for the 2wd for $59. |

I doubt it. We don't really have a problem of snapping the front axles on AWD SVXs. If anything, they'd probably just make your car a bit slower due to more rotating mass.
