Unhappy Broken CD Player

CD goes in fine, starts to spin, and then ejects. Laser lens cleaner no help. Any suggestions? I'm also thinking about a replacement. Does anyone know what type of connection to the radio is required?

Any input is greatly appreciated. Need to hear my music!

Unhappy Stock CD-Changer!

Hi 4cfSVX!

I had the same problem one year ago.
The mechanic told me that it would cost too much to repair it (he didn't even find the real problem), so I bought a new one.

Hope someone can fix it for you, cause I still have my old stereo and maybe I can also repair it then.

Good luck

If you're handy with a soldering iron I hear that a few members have taken apart the radio and fixed the broken solders that are causing the problem you have.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to take it apart. Looks like the laser is out of position because I can see the marks it is leaving on cd.

Haven't been able to find a replacement for just the CD Player - can't find anything that will work with the radio. If I can't fix it or get a used one, I'll replace both.

Need a cassette player, so I' thinking about Pioneer KEH P2030 cassette receiver (XM ready) and CDS-P4000 cd player. Ordered the wiring harness from David, if I go thi way. Anybody familiar with the Pioneer?

CD Repair possibility

I experienced same symptoms, removed unit, removed top and lower covers- the disc pressure plate had disengaged from mechanism that positions CD. It's about one inch in Diameter, has 3 spring clips and can be replaced without too much effort. Now I never leave a CD in my player if the cover is closed so I don't have to do this trick anymore. Good luck

Mine did the same thing. I sent it in to Panasonic for $200 to have it fixed (now under warranty!). I should have replaced it w/ a aftermarket stereo. BTW, Does everyones CD sometimes skip or not read tracks when the inside of the car is hot? Mine does.

skip when hot

Mine was more prone to skip when hot too.
After a serious lens cleaning effort, the formerly unusable CD player works well. It used to skip on all bumps. Even a good throttle mash would make it skip. It turned out to be just dirty. Try one of those cleaning disks, John...It's a cheap effort with little to lose.
