brake rotors

its time to do my brakes. a friend of mine is pretty good with cars and works as a mechanic on the side, doing small stuff. he says on average cars rotors will go for $20-40 each. lucky for me i dont have a normal car, like the rest of you i have an SVX. i love the thing, but some how things always cost more for it. evidentally the price per stock rotor were priced at 110 each. they dont look any different, and i dont know much about rotors. does anybody know why they are so much more. and has anybody replaced the rotors with cheaper ones, or better ones that cost about the same as the stock rotors. any info would be great

Hi and welcome to the site. Yes, there have been many members who have changed the rotors. If you go to the search button (blue rectangular ones) just above the wide black band across the top of the posts, you can search for past threads talking about them. There are several companies that sell them, and different configuratons (cross drilled, slotted, dimple drilled, and a combination of the two). If you still have questions, let us know, and we will try to help you more. There is also a How-To on this in the How-To Locker. To get to it, click on the link at the top of the page on the right side. Good luck.

Hi saintSVX,

Welcome to the forum! I got my front rotors for $50 at G.I. Joe's. You may not have G.I. Joe's where you are but surely Auto stores around you use simillar vendors. I took them about 10 days to deliver but the price was very good. I don't know much about rotors. The once I got looked just like the OEM ones. Good Luck!

Nick
