**Electronic "pop" when driving forward**

Here's one I haven't seen addressed yet.

After starting the car and driving off in "D", there is an audible "pop"
heard through the car speakers within the first few feet of driving. It is
not a loud or prolonged noise, just a momentary pop. It doesn't happen at
any other time besides the first drive forward after starting the car (does
not ever happen at stop lights etc). I noticed tonight that, with the
headlights on, the headlights dim when the pop is heard.

Transmission shifts perfectly, gas mileage and power are very good.

My SVX is a 1996.

Could it be a bad ground somewhere?

Is it stock?

If the radio is stock it could be a ground, if it is aftermarket check all of the power connections as well as the ground connections.

Stock Radio/CD setup. Maybe it's nothing to worry about, but I have never had this happen in another car.

This has happened every time I've started and driven off since I bought the car 3 weeks ago.

Significant Technical Input
It may be the ABS pump cycling, with the ABS relay causing the 'pop' (EMI - electro-magnetic interference.)

So the EMI from the ABS pump is normal? Again, no degradation of performance.

I am replacing the battery grounds this week to see if that might be the problem. They look baaaad!

YESSSS! The electrical pop is gone. The dimming of the lights when turning on an accessory is gone. The occasional faint glow of the ABS and AIRBAG lights is gone.

I simply added a 4 gauge battery cable to the existing battery~to~horn mount ground. Cleaned everything up, put it all together and the electrical gremlins have left the SVX!!

The 19" size (availabel at Pep Boyz) from the battery section fit perfectly around the battery, under the front of the battery tray and to ground.

***The enhanced ground is like SVX penicillin!, my previously slow windows go up and down quickly now!!***

Now I wonder what the positive cable to alternator positive will do for my '96?!?!?
