Re: Is it time to up our game?

@ Chris.. Well, as it would seem that you absolutely know more about servers and bandwith and racks and stuff, by about a million times more than I do, I'm happy to leave the technical end of it entirely up to you Seriously. I know squat about it, I only knew that we were leaking irreplaceable information and wanted to see that stopped, and fixed if possible.

I only know one thing about bandwidth... It's expensive! Would it help if we had size limits? As in "no 4k 20 minute videos" or maximum picture resolution limits? Would it be feasible to have uploaded video and pictures automatically re-sized to a best balance of resolution and file size?

And thank you for all your effort on this.

Oh, yeah. We rolled all the way through to the the latest "stable" V5 on our
test bed and I thought that it failed. It didn't; V5 was just that bad. After digging
into it, pretty much everything was broken because
the code hadn't even been written yet .
I can't see how they can call that anything other than a "prototyping demo".
I don't know about any of you, but I see little point in "upgrading" to a system
that barely, sorta displays posts (you want threading of posts? ) and little else.

Re: Is it time to up our game?

Chris, Earl, LAN (Michael)... I am so glad that you guys still bother to help out. Our format is outdated, and not as easy on an iPad, but it still works. I, personally, would tolerate some adds if it would help. I respect (wholeheartedly) the desire to avoid doing so.

I still have my SVX, and hate that I can't afford to make it what I want. Have been on groups since before Yahoo.lol This group, even though I check only once in a while, is an invaluable resource. Heck, I have met other members in person on multiple occasions, and even been to one's funeral.

I wish I could afford to finance anything, but since I can't... am happy this place is still around. I would love a direct contact option, as I haven't heard from some old buds (like Randy aka Aredub, among others).

There's always the Tapatalk plugin (if it works with vBulletin)

Re: Is it time to up our game?

A newer version of the software in in the upgrade path. I don't recall all the added features, I just want it NOT to break whats working now.

Do the ops have the ability to run a find and replace to change the http://www.ecutune.com/ in my links to something else?

Find, yes. find and replace... not so much. The posts are just a column in the
database so normal SQL query language stuff applies. I'm not an expert,
but I don't know of any search-n-replace SQL syntax.

What we can do though is get the list of posts that look like
they have URL links pointing to either http://www.ecutune.com/ or
http://ecutune.com/. You, or anyone else that has edit permissions for posts,
can fix them. Does anyone other than Chris and myself have edit permissions
on user posts? If nobody does, I guess I can tackle that.

In any case, posts can be brought up by postid directly using a URL like this
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showpost.php?p=183674
using the first one for example. Hit the edit button and go from there.

Here is a list of postid's:
