Rear strut mounts

Is the stock rear strut mount and attached bell housing one complete unit? Can they be separated? I have mounts I used for a gc/Koni setup however the bell shaped metal housing wasn't used...

Re: Rear strut mounts

The bell shaped part is not used as a spring perch with the Ground Control setup. A long time back, a member made a few sets of rear top mounts that were basically the stock ones, but without the extra spring perch, and with a firmer bushing part, intended to be used with the koni/gc setup. That's what I used, and I seem to recall someone had another set of them for sale a while back.

The stock top mount I think is made of two metal pieces, attached by a rubber bushing. The top piece attaches to the body of the car, and the bottom piece attaches to the strut itself and also serves as the spring perch. When changing to a koni/gc setup, I believe you can cut off the excess spring perch, but if you do, you should definitely paint it so it doesn't start to rust. You can also cut off the excess lower spring perch.
