Window seals...

You know the 2 seals on either side of the window on top of the door? The rubber strips that the window slids in and out of... Anyone know where I can get a set for both doors without going through subaru? Because they want something like 85 a piece, so that would be close to 400 for inner and outer seals.. That's really insane. I want to replace them because I noticed that the old ones are scratching the tint, and I want to get the car re-tinted, but not if its just going to get scratched again.

Its not the seals. There are pads inside the door frame to guide the window. Those have become filled with dirt which puts the scratches in the window. You can clean the pads and window to stop the problem. Just pop off the door panel, and you'll see exactly what's happening. Door panel comes off in 5 minutes. 5 screws (three are hidden) and then pop it loose from the bottom and work your way up. Then the panel slides up and way from the door.

cheap fix

I just did an inside door overhaul and this worked great when you remove the door panel take thr window out and find the pads mentioned above cut off all of the old pads they are usually so filthy and worn there not worth cleaning get some velcro with a strong adhesive on the back the fuzzy side not the hook. Cut pieces the same size as the old pads and fit them where the old ones used be heat up the pads with a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the adhesive then let cool to cure. Replace window, might as well tint it while it's out, and you'll be good for another 5 or so years.
