Question Tire Size?

I am going to be changing tires before the end of summer. I was wondering what is the biggest tire, width wise can the SVX go, mounted on stock OEM rims? Can our cars go to 235 50 R16 instead of 225 50 R16. Just wondering thanks.

Smile Thanks

Thanks for the info, I did not know that. Good now I have a good reason to go wider for tires. Are you sure 245's won't rub at all?

I'm fairly certain that's what Paisan is running on his SVX right now.

245-45-16 is correct.

That's what I'm running on the SVX currently. I've had 4 big guys + gear in there and no rubbing whatsoever.

tire size

the 245-45-16 is one tenth of an inch shorter than the 225-50, they dont rub at all and they look more agressive. it olso puts a .5 inch wider contact patch on the ground. ps never ever go to a taller tire on any subaru automatic, our transmisions cant take the extra strain

Believe it or not the subaru ATs are far stronger than the MT counterparts, and probably one of the strongest ATs around.

I like the shorter tires, cause it takes advantage of our ludicrous gearing. Heck I could go with really short tires since at 80mph I cruise at like 2600rpms!

You must really hate me, I run my car on the track! Eeek, 30 minutes at 5-6K rpms! Speeds of 110mph with constant acceleration. Heck my tranny is sooo weak I'm suprised it even survived 1 lap of that let alone 3 30 min sesssion!

Smile Tire Tips

Thanks for the tire tips. All of you convinced me of going to a 245 45 r16 before the end of summer. Just in time for winter.

I'd suggest getting the Dunlop SP5000s as an all-season tire in that size. i've found it to be an amazing tire. I had it in several blizzards in upstate NY this past winter, and then I did 2 track days @ VIR in Virginia in Feb, and just recently did a track day @ Limerock Park with them. These tires are very versatile!
