Stage 3 twin screw supercharger
I think I need some serious counciling, I just purchased a Stage 3 supercharger from ECUTune in the USA today to go with the 5 speed I have coming in as well. Guess you could say I would prefer to spend a bit of money on my car then buy a new one. When Subaru decide to come out with a SVX replacement I will be the first customer but till then I am sticking with it. From what I read with mod it should put out around 400hp. Considering I drive around the country (on dirt) as well as in the cities the unit will get a real test.

Tony,
Congrats on your purchase! Might want to purchase some wider rally tires to go with all that extra horsepower! -Bill

The Dessertrunner gets a blow job.
Good move Tony, you won't be dissapointed. Just the thing to accelerate past the roadtrains. I do have some reservations about the life of a clutch and manual trans behind this setup. At least you don't have too many traffic lights there to stress the clutch. I've had a few supercharged cars, definately the way to GO.
Harvey.

I will keep you posted, I am sure that the SVX engine is solid enough to take it. The engine I have in my car now is reaching 300k and it still runs brilliant and shows no sign of dieing. I would be surprised if it doesn't do 500k. Given my job and were I live I regularly hit 160 to 200 kph with out a problem. I do intend to get a low k one for the super charges. The guy from ECUTune did say that the ECU units on the Australian SVX's are different from the US one's so to get the software to run I had to buy a ECU from the US. Hope you are all having a good day.
Tony

Damn, and I was hoping to be the first. Oh well, let us know how it works out.
Harv, any ideas on how the supercharger would mate up to a stock 4EAT with Uncle Sam's ECU? DesertRunner, I'd actually put the charger on the high k engine first. If you blow it up or anything, at least you did it on a motor that deserved to go out with a bang! In my experience, if you put it on an old and tired motor, and start breaking things, replace the parts you break with the 2nd parts from your good engine. Get new, and preferably stronger ones for the good (low k) car. That way, it's cheaper if you continually break the same part (breaking it twice will tell you if there is majr work to be done.) This way if you run the old one into the ground, you'll end up with a strong bastard of a (low k) car to throw the charger on once you've worked out all the bugs. Strap an import engine into the exploded/wrung out/worn out car and bobsyeruncle. I'd love to have three SVX's - one as a daily driver test bed while I build one from the ground up... Good luck with the forced induction, and please PLEASE keep us posted. I have been very keen to do this, and I almost had the money to go ahead with it. Your success will depend on my willingness to go ahead with it. Now for the crucial question... how much did all that set you back in US$ and A$ ?!?!?
