Svxit,

Who's Chino ?

Wasn't he the assistant gang leader of the Jets in "West Side Story"?

Okay. I'll retract my "weenie." (Um, that didn't sound good. Did it?)

Ok after just getting my SVX not too long ago, and checking out all the cool things on the meets you guys have, I said to myself, "this is something I have to do". Now after I see that this one isn't to far from home, I have to do it!!

I'm really new at all of this, but if someone can help me with the details, I would love to come and join the fun.

Thanks,

John

JOHN,
Glad you are coming. If you don't mind some crazy people (not including Randy, of course!), then you will have a good time. Then there is Don, and oh yea, Earl. Oops, also forgot about Jerry and John - all from the original Snowshoe Gang of SIX. Of course, I was the only sane one of the group....
Seriously, I honestly think the people make any meet such as this. We just use a very unique automobile to bring folks together that would probably never otherwise meet. Kinda neat, don't you think?

Yep, we'll talk cars, probably tell some tall tails, bore the wives a bit, but overall, we'll have fun getting to know the folks we haven't met, and renewing friends established in the past.

Say, start by telling us about your SVX....
Harry, in the Northern VA area

The car.... Oh my the car... It's a '92 with the touring pakage, so it has just about everthing. It just kicked over 42k today, and it's teal in color with gold pin stripes and gold "SVX" right in front the the rear tires.

I'm glad to be among those that own one of these beasts, and I hope to enjoy it for a long time.

I'll see If I can't get some pics up tonite to show you guys!

Later,

John

John, great to hear you're going to be there. If you believe that Harry Newman was the only "sane" one in the Snowshoe group, then, I'm gonna bring the pictures of the Bridge I own in Brooklyn and sell you a share of it.

It really is a great time. You won't regret it. Looking forward to seeing you there. And, those of you who haven't met Larry III, you're in for a true treat -- not to mention wondering how he ever was fortunate enough to land Rosie as his "Beautiful Naviguesser."

John from Bridgeport and Rufus sign up...

Super-Ru brought Jean and I safely home this evening, with a few angels riding along, from a quick trip to Cherokee, North Carolina. Got to visit with some cousins and had a nice time. Didn't really have a plan, just went where the road led us.

I see upon our return that we have two more wishing to attend, plus a mysterious person mentioned by Svxit. That would put us at 15 already, and I haven't even received the contract yet.

Feedback folks! Should I lay away some additional rooms? Anyone who has been reading this, but has not let your voice be heard yet, please step up and be counted. If you want to come after the block has been reserved for everyone, then you will be on your own as to any chance to get a room. We are very lucky to get a block of this size at this time. Later, the demand for rooms for the fall color season will take every room at Canaan Valley.

I see the "sniping" has already begun, so by the time the meet rolls around, thing should get interesting! Don

Jerry,

I was watching the Food Network (one of my favorite pastimes) yesterday. The had a piece on about the Apple Butter Festival in Berkley Springs, WV. They said it takes place in October. Is that near Canaan Valley ? Maybe a sidetrip can be planned.

Larry III
I just love apple pie.

Berkley Springs is in Morgan County, a few miles west of Martinsburg and Hagerstown. It is probably 60 to 80 miles east of Canaan.

I am sure we can find some fresh apple butter on our drives around the area. That time of year, folks are usually selling it along the road. Lower the windows and follow your nose... Don

Yeah, Emeril Legasse<sp> rocks! BAM!! I did have a little trouble with his deep fried pickles though. I mean, I love a good pickle, but I have never even considered deep fat frying one. I heard he has a great web site too, but I've never been there.

I had the same reaction when I saw these things on the menu at a restaurant in Newburgh Indiana. But, after a few beers, I said, "what the hey." They are actually very tasty. Of course, I suppose it depends alot on the pickle. They used Polsky Wyrob's. They were excellent --- 'course, it coulda been the beer.

Larry III:

Consulting my "2001 Fairs & Festivals", I see that the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival will be held in Martinsburg, WV (Berkley Co.) from 10/18 to 10/21.

Next question . . .
