Re: Return of the SVX ????

Put the SVX style windows in it. A set of gull wing doors and make it a fast back not a Hyundai Veloster . Looks. Alike . They did get the color right < LOL>

Re: Return of the SVX ????

In this age of thin metal and plastics, origami is all we will see in design to keep any semblance of rigidity. Smooth sculpted designs are a thing of the past, bean counters will nix gull wings and windows within a window. Go buy your coffee table books of great designs now. I am pessimistic about ever seeing another well designed Subaru.

The Ferrari FF is one gorgeous AWD but slightly out of my price range.

Those are the kinds of lines I'd like to see. They got the cockpit nailed, as did the SVX.

Re: Return of the SVX ????

Think A possibility of a 6 speed might get thrown in the mix.
Still think they gave to keep the $$$ in check. When I bought mt 1992 SVX it sat on the lot for some time. People were heard to say too much for a Subaru
Still $60,000 is too high

Re: Return of the SVX ????

I think it will have to have a radical yet somewhat practical design which made the OG stand out compared to its more conservative grand touring competition (as C&D put it as 'out of left field'), with the exception of an equal being the more expensive BMW 8 series. Subaru needs to use this moniker as much as way of experimenting with design as it could with drivetrains. Maybe they can try to create a Parrallel architecture based grand touring coupe for increased room while maintaining a low drag coefficient. I'm quite certain flat 6 would make a good fit. Also bring back the window within a window design.

I doubt any of this would come to fruition, but if they indeed went on to design 'the next SVX' people can dream.

" the car is being requested by most strongly by American dealerships, because said dealers are clamoring for a high-output, sporty and luxurious coupe"

...This is what makes me not believe this story.

They maybe catching the high price and low margins are booming (or the only ones clearly growing in this stagnated economy) bug which seems to be taking economists by storm. There even seems to be the numbers suggesting luxury brands are showing more 'growth.' I wouldn't doubt Scooby dealers want a piece of that action.

Re: Return of the SVX ????

Maybe we should wait to see if Toyota is considering a similar platform. That might make it feasible for Subaru.

Re: Return of the SVX ????

To me, the perfect replacement for our SVX now, is the Nissan GT-R. In few years if will be a bit more affordable though unless you shoot for an early model. Comparing the prices of the "2017 SVX" and "2013 GT-R" (assuming we are in 2017), they should be the same.
One is New, the other Used. I would pick the GT-R in a heartbeat. You ask me why? I've driven it back in 2008, so I know what I am talking about.

Re: Return of the SVX ????

I tried to remove the Velostar look, gave it a butt lift, smoothed out the hard lines and made it less bulky looking. What do you guys think?

Re: Return of the SVX ????

I hope it goes through. I know I would be one of the first to check up and buy one... I needs me a powerful good looking 2door that is great at the pump and can still make for a great weekend racer... The fusion I have now is ONLY good at the pump
