front wipers query
Curious so would like the Forums thoughts. The front wipers have 2 rubber "rests". Are the blades supposed to stop and rest only a 3/4" long portion of the rubber on them in the "Summer" position ? The rest of the blade will be off the surface but seems to promote an area of deformity over the course of time. Plus, with the correct 20" PS blade, resting on the pad has the lateral end "smooshed" a bit on the glass molding.
Cars I have had that have had these resting pads had projections on the wiper arms that would hit them and glide on, lifting the entire blade a bit off the surface. Just wondering....added the following from manual 1 . ADJUSTMENT 1) When wiper switch is in "OFF" position, adjust blades in original position as shown in illustration by changing wiper arm installation . Be sure to adjust wiper blades after setting wiper select switch to "WINTER" to position them in WINTER position. The illustration shows the "original position to be an inch to an inch and 1/2 above the glass edge, no where near the rubber rests. Wierd Adjustment instructions anyway since they seem to say you need to adjust the blades in the "WINTER" position which will obviously change the "SUMMER" position, not to mention they don't give specs for the "W" position. Translation problems I suppose Last edited by fasteract7; 04-26-2015 at 07:20 PM. |

Re: front wipers query
I adjusted mine to stop at the bottom of the windshield without resting on those rubber rests. As you stated they deform my blades.

Re: front wipers query
Using OEM arms and blades which have little bumpers on them I set mine so that the bumper on the blade is a little too close to the bumper on the car. (Slight overlap) There is some play in the mechanism. This allows the two bumpers to mate. When they are in the correct position the rubber is completely off of the glass. Have been using "Narrow" refill replacements on the blades forever, except 4 years ago when I bought new OEM blades. The rubber on those disintegrated in about 3 months but the springy holders work.
