Rear Combo Light - Fixing Leaks

Well in an attempt to fix the leaky brake light syndrome and after researching here for some time, I bought a new set of gaskets and today removed one of the offending lights. To my surprise, there's absolutely no evidence that moisture has been getting past the existing gaskets and on closer examination, I believe it's getting in through the holes where the red acrylic lens "snaps" into the main black housing. I'm assuming therefore that the problems is actually failure of the seal/glue between the lens and the body itself.

My question is, has anyone ever removed the lens from the main housing before? I'd like to know it's posisble before I go and destroy an otherwise good light unit.
