Reminds me of a cross between an Alfa (front end) an RX-8 (doors and rear quarter lines) and a new Maxima (rear end).

Other than the drivetrain, I'm not that impressed.

OK..OK.....

The engine sounded nice.... but it still looks like a 21st century edsel.... At the press release said it was a 5 speed auto.....

Are they going to learn nothing from the SVX?

Significant Technical Input
I suppose that GUT (Gran Utility Turismo) is better than SUX (Sport Utility Extroadinaire, Experimental, etc.)

They could enlist Jimmy Buffet as the spokesman... "I wish I had a pencil-thin moustache..."

Looks to me like the front end is Alfa mixed with Nissan, and the rear end is Saab mixed with Mazda... It had potential, but I don't like the way it looks from a rear quarter view at all.

Doesn't compare to the SVX, IMO.

It looks like an Edsel to me!

A few minutes with paint... and TADA!
See the transformation in my locker if you want.

I dig that car, its sweet.
I could do without the baby blue interior though.

wonder how much it will change between concept and production.

New SVX

Make no mistake people, this, or something very like it, is the new SVX.

Plenty of styling cues. Look at the two oval tail pipes. Rear seats fold, leaving trunk access. Suede interior. Wheel arches bulging over bodywork. Long slope on rear window. It's all there.

They will never call it the SVX2. Too many painful memories, a tainted concept.

Please God someone will take them to one side and make them fix that oval monstrosity of a front air intake before it gets into production.

I'm with Mike on this. We have one hunk of a car here, with serious road presence.

Can somebody with PhotoShop experience delete that centre grill and show us what it should be like??

I want one. A car that looks like a Ferrari 456, is nearly as big, has 4WD and pumps 400hp? You bet I want one.

And I absolutely guarantee the 5 speed auto will take any punishment you can give it. Fuji will not want to repeat the 4EAT experience.

This is going to be the SVX we should have had all along, except not as elegant.

Joe

Missing info

The more I see you...

The more I want you..

They say the engine is in development. We might expect they will turbo a variant of the new three-litre from the Legacy.

However, what I would like to hear is that the engine is all-new, about 2.5 or 2.6 litres displacement, and that the two turbos are sequential, not twinned. That would make a real interesting powerplant.

Joe

oval grill removed + a little SVX style

OK, well a few minutes in MS paint, a picture from ENSTEELE's locker (PROPS!) as base material, a head on collision = B11SVX

Imagine what I could do in a few minutes with photoshop and a macintosh!

I agree - Edsel meets Fiero meets 3 series BMW. I wonder how some variation of the Alcyone "horns" would look as a grill motif? Anything but grill by American Standard. Then again, maybe it's a return to the "waterfall" theme.

Ron (a bit flushed).
