Significant Technical Input
Do a search. Dayle @Motorsports has a line on some or you can find websites that offer the service. If you want to just cover one up, check out the usual suspects - parts and discount stores.

i have read that this is a NASTY, time-consuming job. might be better to have it sent out, if possible.

naw covering up would look terrible.

See the moron that owned the car before me had a ring that was rather sharp on the inside on the left hand. The whole left side of my steering wheel is shaved, if you will. Like, 1/8"-1/4" of the material missing. Its ridiculous.

It all depends on how the previous person used it and how well you can cover it up. 94 that I sold was covered. It actually looked good and feels nice. You do have to spend some $$$ on the material. Don't use cheap stuff. They will only devalue your car.

My steering wheel looked BAD. I looked into sending it in to be recovered and I decided not to. 1) issue with air bag 2) cost - $250.00

I found another place that I purchased a cover from. Wheel Skins They have different colors, and you can have a two color cover for aprox $50.00. They sent it out the same day that I ordered. They have a chart to figure out the right size for the wheel, and were wonderful to deal with. Their site is at http://www.wheelskins.com/ I left the original cover on the wheel, and sewed the new one over the old one. It is a little bigger now, but is not a problem. Good luck.

Sorry about the quality of the picture, but my battery was just about gone when I took this. Here is the cover on my wheel.

Do you happen to remember the wheel size you ordered? There are 'All 1995-Present' and 'All Others' for Subarus, and their sizes are different. Thanks.

Ross,

that's what I got on my previous 94-L. You can get it in black and it looks nice on the wheel.

I think one of the Euro ones would look nice in a Charcoal & Gray combination to match the Charcoal dash and Gray Suede trim. There's nothing wrong with my wheel but it sure would look sharp with that.
