Crap... I forgot about another question...

I have a few other questions.

1) The plastic headlight lenses are kind of foggy. Should they be replaced, or can I use plastic polish on them? How much are replacements?

2) Has anyone upgraded their headlights to HID? I'm looking at the kit from HIDS4LESS.com and it looks pretty clean. It's $575, but it's a nice kit.

3) How do you clean the "Suede" material? Also, the drivers side suede piece is starting to wear. Is this replaceable? How much should this cost?

Thanks!

Clarke

On the headlights, clean them first. Do a search on Novus or check in the How-To locker under the Personal Locker tab on the far top left corner of the screen.

Some here are doing HID conversions. Check the Mod Mania section and do some searches over there as well.

foggy headlights...

This was a common topic at the Ann. meet...

Randy (el Presidente), had some stuff called Novus. It was a three step process that worked with pretty good success.

Sunday night before the plant tour, someone had some plastic polish made by Eagle One. I looked at Pep Boys last week and they did not have it. It was a paste, and seemed to work well. It made the rounds from car to car....I'm sorry I can't remember whose it was, but he was generous with it!

Significant Technical Input
I had a beat up t-bird in the shop last week and I hit one of the lights with regular old turtle wax rubbing compound. About three minutes of hand rubbing brought it back to about 85% clarity.

I wonder if the owner wonders why one light is clear and the other isn't....

hehehe, it was ME

The product I was using was Eagle One Ultra Fine Scratch Remover, however, any form of scratch remover should work.

This reminds me. I found small bottles of Novus at The Container Store.

If anyone wants some they are $8.99.
I can get some and send them to you for about $10. (cover shipping, etc)

Luckily I dont need to use it on my headlights, but I used it on my friends old (new to him) Thunderbird, all I have to say is WoW!

For those at the meet who received my Eagle One treatment on their headlight assemblies, how are they looking after 2 weeks?

I'm just curious to see how the stuff is lasting on everyone else's cars

Re: Crap... I forgot about another question...

<<1) The plastic headlight lenses are kind of foggy. Should they be replaced, or can I use plastic polish on them? How much are replacements? >>

Replacements runs about 400 a piece if I recall. How do you really really clean them? Look for howto on my page. Novus will do the trick from the outside for a month or so. There is a detailed how-to at: http://www.stars-gazer.com/~svx/ Be prepare to take things apart.

<<2) Has anyone upgraded their headlights to HID? I'm looking at the kit from HIDS4LESS.com and it looks pretty clean. It's $575, but it's a nice kit. >>

The kits are out there and you can find them as low as 400ish. They are however, illegal to use in the US and will not pass inspection since all HID lights in the US needs a washer infront of the light as well as auto leveling device. The whole "legal" unit will(we are testing on that) run as much as 2000. Good luck. We'll keep you posted.

<) How do you clean the "Suede" material? Also, the drivers side suede piece is starting to wear. Is this replaceable? How much should this cost? >>

A lot. You can either replace with another one from another SVX or get a new side panel from the dealer.

<<Thanks!>>
welcome
