Friends don't let friends drive their SVX.

Sorry to hear about the accident. The most important thing is that no one was hurt. Good luck with your SVX. Glad to hear that you're going to keep it.

What was your friend, asleep?
hmm...this doesnt look too bad, but it could get a little tricky..suprisingly the thing that worries me is the hood-fender gap. See below:

not to be a downer, but I can see the car spending a couple hours on the frame machine getting the apron untwisted Either that or this hit from below to the lower rad support pushed the upper support up as well, via the raiator itself (in which case, the radiator may now be cracked)

This could wel be the case...In the second picture it looks as if the drivers side radiator clampy downy thingy is bent (Yes, that is the official part description)

Keep us posted on the progress. If this does get fixed (and, IT BETTER!!!Theese are actually easy repairs) at least you'll know you fill finally be rid of the little scrape on the one bumper corner

I hope they do fix it. If not I' will take the check and get the frame straightened, and if there's suspension damage then see if people can help me swap over parts from another donor car, then replace the body components and get the rest of the body work done.

Thanks for your support guys. I know I'm not going to part this car out and I want to keep this one on the road.

Man, I am really sorry to see that. I hope you can get it fixed. Many of us here have said that we never let anyone else drive our SVXs, and now you can see why.

Tim,
I am really sorry your baby was in an accident!
Thank God it was only metal and plastic, and no person was hurt!
It does, from the pictures, not look too bad.
I REALLY hope you fix it!

Tim, they are right... not that bad at all... It can be straightened and can be fixed with a little push here and a little pull there... You can get it fixed... But I still want that grill

I knew you were going to say that! Maybe we'll work something out afterwards after this is all fixed up .

Even though it was stupid for me not to fully mount it, that was the reason why it didn't break. The bumper flexing pushed the grille up and out of the mounting holes just enough to prevent cracking it, as there's no marks on the grille

At what speed are the airbags supposed to deploy?

We were travelling at about 35 and probably impacted at 25-30.

Maybe I should consider getting my airbag checked?

So far no updates from the insurance company. Still waiting on them to go out there. I called today and they said someone would be out by friday, so we shall see.

15 mph, within a 15° of the hood centerline.

Hooray they're fixing it!

The estimate is approximately $1500 for the repair plus the supplemental damage for the potential suspension issues. It looks like I have a bent rim and what not so there may be more bills sent to the insurance company, but so far they approved the repair
