Hahahahah, got full coverage on my svx yesterday. Added full coverage (no deductible) windshield insurance for a dollar a month... hahahaha
Obviously state farm has never had to replace an svx windshield!!

I don't need a widshield, but I like to know what things cost. recently I found a place that will repace them very resonably. This could be a misprint but it worth checking out for anyone that needs front glass.
Here is the link to the site: http://www.diamondautoglass.com/ Scratch that, it must have been a misprint. When I checked it for a quote a few days ago, I was told something under $200. I just checked it again, and it now says "Please call for special pricing". Obviously someone caught their error and now their prices are outrageous, just like everyone else. Good Move

Checked with a local glass place, and it turned out to be $800 for green tint. I think it was $50 more for Blue. So, I can get it. Just waiting. It would be nice at some time, not to have to look through 16 years of sand blasting. But until it happens {Arizona promise}, I'll be just fine knowing it won't cost me a dime. State Farm also added my 27 year old Arrow without looking first. If that comes up and bites them some time, I may even lose some sleep. {Edit} oooo ooo I just remembered. I asked the Agent what that covered for glass. Every window on the vehicle. Now, that could get costly.

I have no-deductible glass coverage on mine, too. Don't recall the cost, but relative to the total premium, is isn't much. I've had two stone-damaged windshields replaced and one repaired in the past 15 years, prior to buying an SVX.

Might wanna rethink your full coverage Richard. The insurance value of an SVX isn't enough to warrant it plus if you would wreck her and its over $1000 the car gets totalled and is tough to get back on the road.
My glass coverage is similarly cheap on mine, definately a worthy investment.

did you know that you can buy comprehensive coverage (fire and theft) including glass coverage without collision?

up here - canada - you can do that. but you can't drive the car (legally), you have to have liabililty (3rd party) to drive the car.

Consider that if you make a claim on your glass insurance they will increase your insurance rate. I placed a claim on a Volvo windshield (semi kicked up a rock or road trash). Was replaced in 2 days but the premium rate went up 4%.

I'd rather 4% than svx windshield price... My insurance dropped 50% last month when it was time to re-up. I wasn't aware that you could get zero deductable glass insurance, but i'll defidently check it out now. I checked for my truck a few months back, 250$ installed, and they come to my work and do it in the parking lot. I checked a week ago on my svx, blue was 1200$ installed, i had to go to their location though. Green was 800$. With the trucks around here, and genuinely ****ty roads, it seems like a worthy investment.

My insurance has paid for more of my car than I have. That includes a windshield.

Safelite is due to repair a tiny, crescent-type stone chip in my windshield today. To correct my earlier post, Nationwide's standard blurb was "your deductible will be waived if the glass is repairable," so in this instance, prompt repair would seem to benefit all parties, as we'd both be out hundreds of dollars were the glass to crack and be ruined.
Hope they remember this come policy renewal time. dcb |
