I love your new avatar Tom...and the quote above it! Did this thread give you any inspiration?

you'll enjoy it!
my first car was a old legacy wagon (yeah, i was the coolest kid in high school)...it was unstopable and saved my life many times. and only got stopped by lots and lots of mud) I've had to wait, but now i got an svx and i'm as excited as you for this upcoming winter.

Winter tires are a MUST if you have a 5spd. If I sneezed going around a corner I was sideways with my Yoko db's. Now that I have Dunlop Graspics I would have to try very hard to get stuck.

I'm curious to see how the ground control springs perform in winter. Of course I'm going to have to crank up the height as far as I can go. I just don't know if the stiff springs are going to help or hinder the traction on snow/ice.

With snow tires, you'll be just fine. EVO's and STI's do just great in the snow with snow tires despite having extremely stiff springs and shocks...

First Snow!

We just got our first snow out here in Lubbock! It's been snowing almost all day! Unfortunatly, my SVX is back in Plano so I can't enjoy it.

Lubbock is in Northern TX just below Colorado, right? I actually never realized that any part of TX ever saw the white stuff...

i didn't have a choice a few times last year getting out of work at midnight - the plows were nowhere to be found!

the SVX is great in the snow......IF YOU HAVE SNOW TIRES!!! slides are nice and controllable. if you get the chance, go practice your snow & ice driving in a deserted parking lot somewhere (late at night?), especially if you haven't had the SVX out in the white stuff before. good learning experience......and its fun!

i only got stuck once - i got in the SVX, opened my garage door, saw that the snow was above my bumper, and then closed the garage door.

What I've noticed is that on ice with all-seasons if you induce a skid the SVX will want to keep skidding.

For safety and preservation reasons please purchase a set of (any) winter tires if you intend on driving your SVX in the ice/snow.
