Yellow dirty stuff on headlights

I didnt know where to post this so please feel free to move it to where its supposed to be. I have the usual yellow stuff on my headlights. i was told to buy rubbing compound to get it out. But is that yellow stuff inside the headlight case or outside? And where would i get rubbing compound from? Thanks in advance.

Do a search on Cleaning Headlights and you will get more info than you ever wanted. Not that I don't want to help you, it is the best way to get that info.

The yellow occurs when the headlights are in the sun a lot. You can polish it off using rubbing compound. The search will tell you the different brands that members use. I use Eagle One small scratch remover, and I have seen some lights that you could not see inside of turn crystal clear. It was a miricle! Give it a try and if you have more questions, let us know. Some members have taken their lights apart and cleaned the inside, but that is not necessary unless they are dirty inside as well. Good luck.

I recommend whatever Earl uses, his kid did a great job de-yellowing my old ugly lights.

I use Blue Magic Plastic Polish and Cleaner. It works for me just fine. I use that stuff every two weeks and love the outcome everytime.

Thanks for the input guys....im off to the store to buy some of that eagle one stuff. I have GS-27 scratch remover i wonder if that would work

Honestly, any scratch remover would probably do the trick, but be prepared to be rubbing for a while. This isn't a quick 10 minute job. It can take a few hours depending on how yellow your headlights are...

This stuff is great! Two good 5 minute scrubs made a whole world of difference on my headlights. Of course, it doesn't last forever and you'll need to do it every few weeks.......but it does work.

well there was no eagle one scratch remover at the store so i bought 3m medium cut rubbing compound. As soon as i put it on the headlights and rubbed once it all went away LOL. Now both of the plastic pieces are clear and beautiful .

That's interesting. I used 3M medium rubbing compound on my headlights, and it worked great too!

I just kept rubbing them down for over 2 hours (in four sessions) b/c I wanted them to be as clear as possible!

Wow 2 hours is alot of time to be cleaning headlights....i dunno for some reason my got clean right away. they werent horrible or anything but still dirty. When i have more time ill rub it down for a while and compare my results.
