extended warranty??
I pick up the new "94"Lsi yesterday in Chicago and am now home in Colorado, great road trip. The car had 77.6K on it and I just put another 1.1K bringing it home. The car came with a 3 month 3K warranty from the dealer. I've never been one to buy extended warranties, but the dealer offered me a 24 month/24K mile covering engine, transmission, and drive train for $1165. The car has the orig trans and no external cooler. The policy is from GE auto warranty services. This sure seems like a good deal. I have until Monday to decide. What do you guys think?

YES!
I'll repeat YES ! This is great idea. Just to stress my opinion, the SVX transmission is more than that to have rebuilt and I would guess everyone would agree they are not the most reliable transmission ever built.
I just bought a '97 Outback in June. I opted for the $850.00 warranty just because. I had it a total of three months and it started overheating. Oh no! Luckily I bought the warranty. Not only the water pump needed to be replaced, but the head gasket was blown and to make it worse it had craked the head internally and had to have new heads. I was glad I had purchased the warranty! (although, the man that worked for the warranty company had taken the money and the contract and brought the check for the warranty to his girlfriend that worked at a back, cashed the check, and tossed my contract away, I had paid the dealer with the purchase and the dealer paid for some of the reapairs. They also refunded my warranty and put the man in jail because not just my warranty, but $260,000.00 worth of warrantys were pocketed by this man! Needless to say I traded that Outback in a second cracked head and all!) But, I was glad I had purchased the warranty or I would have had to spend alot more than I did. Too bad they didn't pay for all the tylenol I had to take from that headache! -G |

Go for it! My SVX has a reman tranny and new PS pump courtesy of previous owners extended warranty. At that point she had a cooler installed, but would have been very expensive to pay for that tranny herself!

Yes, I would have to agree and say go ahead and get it. If you don't you will probably regret it in the long run. Wish I had a warrenty on mine when the tranny crapped out, as I will be dishing out, or rather my paretnts will be, over $2000 next week for a rebuild. Good luck.

I wish I had a warantee on miy SVX right now for all the repairs I am doing (around $5,000). Most of wich would be covered too.
That price is great too even with a deductible it is still not a bad price considering the AWD component and the complexity of the car in general! Good Luck! -G |
