Talking Fun at The N.W. Meet

Well The N.W. meet was a blast. It was a Beutifull sunny day & we got to run some really fun roads.
Hats off to Troy for a well planed run.
All Except for the student Driver pace car he found us that burnt up 10 miles of fun roads before the instructer had her pull over & let the train of SVX's go around ( i think Troy just wanted to slow us up so the straglers could catch up lol )
And
I have some pics in my locker if any one wants to look

I would second that! Great fun and Troy did a great job on the meet. We need to do that one again next year.

I think that student driver was a plant.

Surprise Ending

When I got out to my car, I found a person looking at all of the cars. Come to find out, it was another member who had followed us to the meet at the end and wanted to meet some of us. He is a member here, but has been watching the site and knew quite a bit about us. He has 2 SVXes, and had one there. We had a total of 14 at our meet! I think he will get involved with the group in the future. He and his wife had just come back from a car show and found the cars in the parking lot. I had a good talk with the security guard as well. He drove up and asked "are those all the same kind of cars?" He thought it was pretty interesting that we had a group of them there.

Whoah! No way! That's pretty cool! I love it when people surprise us like that. I trust you told them that there were initially a lot more of us!

Yes, I had a blast at the meet. All the planning and work was worth it when Saturday finally came and I just got to sit back and enjoy it like everyone else!

No, the student driver was not a plant, but the deer jogging along in front of us for 1/4 mile was. Sorry our line of cars was so long that some of those in the rear missed it! Also, the bald eagle circling less than 100 feet away from us at the lake was planned too. I've got connections!

Looks like a great meet - you can never have too many SVX's!!

BTW, in one of the shots there is a car that looks grey - rego appears to be E50-NUJ (it is the third in from the right on the '11 from the rear' shot) - I cannot tell exactly what colour that is???

Looks like green to me. But I'm afraid I don't actually know what difference there is (if any) between Polo Green and Emerald Pearl Green.

Or are there more greens than I can remember?

Anyway, it's green.

Do you mean the one with the wheels on the wrong way?

Smile Favorite meet memories...

I thought I'd post a few of my favorite moments from the meet. This is by no means all of them, as I pretty much enjoyed every last minute of it, but these stand out:

Meeting a ton of new members. Half the people there had never been to one of our meets before. One person surprised us all by showing up unannounced, having never registered on any of these sites. Excellent!

When I pulled up last to the staging area for the drive, and saw for the first time how big a group 11 cars actually makes for a drive. Not only that, but everyone was out of their cars taking pictures and having conversations. It was all I could do to get the drive back underway! Never seen such enthusiasm in our group before!

Seeing 10 pairs of matching headlights in my rear view mirror (later 11), and all that beautiful sheet metal snaking out behind me, sometimes taking up 2 or 3 curves at once it was so long.

That first stomp of the pedal when I was sure we were all lined up and pulling out of the first town. We went under that little railroad bridge at around 20mph and came out into the first curve at full throttle. Surprise!

The looks we got every time we paraded down another small town main street.

The deer trotting along in front of us and the bald eage circling above us when we got to the lake. I didn't actually plan those, nor did I guarantee the incredible (for NW November) weather. Someone likes us.

The group lunch. I'm so glad I made that last minute change so everyone could sit down together. It felt like a big family sitting down to eat, even though half of us had never met anyone else at the table until a couple hours before. The food was great too, and the restaurant giving us our own room worked out perfect. I hope everyone tipped our waitress.

When we pulled into Stanwood and Allen gets out of the car next to me, looks around at the pretty boring looking town, and says, "And why are we stopping here??" A few minutes later, I spot a pool hall named "Gargoyle's Billards", run over to tell Allen, and soon after I am redeemed.

The last leg of the tour where we got to really open it up for a while, until we got stuck behind a slow car. Turned out to be just a chance for the rest our field to catch up to the leaders, so that a few minutes later the entire field of SVXes could pass the slow car together. It was fun, but I almost would give it up for a chance to be in that other car to see and hear what they did!

I WILL have new tires for the next meet. I had 1 scary moment where I was to close( to the SVX in front of me going into a tight dippy teardrop turn *That first turn after the Rail road tracks* ) to power through the turn & had to brake into it & got hit with some heavy understeer & I lost traction which then sent me off the edge into some grass & had to Muscle her out ( once I had room to gass her) ( was fun but scary for 1/2 a sec when those tires sliped out on me ) thank goodness for the AWD & 230 HP she dug in & tore back inline so sweet !!! And Runnen # 4 & up the rest of the day i got to do some Real fun driving & diggen cornors with the front 5 ( Nick had a blast but wanted soo bad to move up in the pack lol )
The Deer Was as big a bonus as the awsome weather. & as to lunch for most people not knowing each other there was plenty of great conversation.
Was a Kick in the pants when Troy showed me that Billiard hall named Gargoyle's ( Picture in my Locker )
11 year old tires with 52K on em they gotta GO !!!
So much i could ramble on about on how great the meet was i will stop now & ramble on more later

WAY TO GO TROY !!!
