never fall victim to the windsheild scandal again

I had the windsheild replaced in my svx for $325. This was a brand new unit from SOA. I got off work one day to find that an airconditioning duct had fallen off the roof of my office and planted itself first on my windsheild and second on my hood. Thinking life was over I ran to the boss and demanded reimbursment. He was fine with it. I had the hood repainted and was looking foreward to reaming my company for the $1000+ windsheild. Unfortunately the Installer called me asking for the type of tint and informed me that he would have to order it. I asked him how much it would cost: response "the list is $979.00 but they can't sell them at that price so your price is $261.39 and we'll install it at your home for a total of $325". Never be taken by installers/subaru again.

I am all ears as well, or should I say eyes. Where was the scandle that you almost got taken for? That price was great. I don't know how he did it.

I think what he is trying to say is that our windshields CAN be installed for much less than the 1000 that some of us have payed.

That only works if you can find a cheap one with installation when you need it.

Sounds fishy to me. Dealer cost is more than $261.00, and the last time I checked no one was selling parts for less than cost.

The only way i could see someone getting a real SVX windshield at that price would be used. Even then that's a good deal. If they told you that it was a real SVX windshield for $325, then you were just involved in a scandal.

I'm interested in this as mine has 4" crack on the top of it. What company did you use?

That does sound somewhat weird. My windshield has had a number of chips and cracks repared over the years, and it is starting to look like a battle ground. I have checked with a number of places regarding replacment and havent gotten an estimate lower than $880.

I don't know about your states, but in SC if you have collision the insurance is obligated to repair ANY damages to the front windshield without ANY increase in premiums, deductibles, or anything now or later. You may want to check into that.
