Hey, while I stand by my comments about the exterior of the OSCA, 'ya gotta hand it to them "Wild 'n Crazy" Czech brother designers. I mean who else would think to put the brake & clutch pedals right on the dash? Really convenient! And the powder puff passenger airbag? A stroke of pure genius. I guess we can call this cockpit design the Czecher Cab. Bada-boom. Tsu.

Osca Levant
<You may be misreading Ron, though. When he says Miata out of RX7 out of Barracuda, he is referring to the size, the cabin profile, and the tail in that order, but of the OSCA. Am I right Ron?>
Wouldn't be the first time I've misread something....although I think the Delfino looks like a merger between a WRX, Cougar, and a Mustang GT convertible. I finally found some additional pictures of the Osca 2500GT. www.supercars.net/SDBQ?i=1063 www.brgmotors.com/osca.html Other than the roof pillars needing to be body color, and the tall Ferrari-like shifter, I think the car looks great! Dimmer switch
My dad had some Cadillacs in the 50's and 60's that had a torpedo-like photoelectric cell mounted on the far left side of the dash. When it sensed oncoming headlights, it automatically dimmed, and when the car passed, brightened, the headlights. The thing worked fine; why did they do away with them? I have to flip the lights so much on these mountains, something like that would be a big help. Don

I remember those auto-dimmers as well. Al Gore invented them, I hear.
I think an adjustable one could pose a problem. The Kentuckians would keep knocking the six-pack on the floor when trying to grip the knob with their toes. tsu.

Dimmer idea
Quote:
You pass under some shady trees, the switch thinks it's dark, and turns on your lights. The chap at the side road waiting to pull out thinks you have signalled, pulls out, whammo, you wonder "where did he come from"? The opposite problem is, you are driving quick at night on a wall-lined road such as we have in the West of Ireland. The pick-up sensor thinks you are meeting other vehicles all the time as it picks up the reflected light from the walls, and it keeps turning your lights to dim. I think some top range cars such as BMW's 7 series have these gizmos, and they give these problems. Convenience devices that take control from the driver are not necessarily a good idea. On the other hand, if the torpedo stops your beer can from sliding off the dash.... Joe

Dim idea?
Hmmmm....those sound like good reasons to not have an autodimmer. Sure would be helpful on my roads though. How about just having the dimmer connected to a voice-recognition system? "Lights dim!"....they do. "Bright!", and you get high beams.
"Fog!" and you get those too..... ------------- "Charles, you are not very bright! In fact that was about the dimmest move you've ever made! Why don't you just admit that you haven't the foggiest idea about the Weirton Steel contract and leave it at that!" "No officer, I wasn't trying to flag you down. I have no idea why the lights were doing that...." Don
