put some new wheels on the car...

Well, put some different wheels on the SVX tonight. They're originally off a '93 Mazda RX-7 twin turbo. After that, I had them on my '94 Probe GT (that's why the centercaps still say GT) and I decided that since the probe isn't running right now, I may as well not let them go to waste. The tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE750 245/45zr16 and I really like them.

Anyways, here are some before and after pictures. (mostly after) Enjoy! I know I sure do.

Before...

After...

Thanks for looking!

p.s. Also of note is the fact that these rims are 16x8" and weigh in at 13.8 lbs each. I picked up like 12 whp just by putting these on!! lol

Theese wheels are actually very popular with the auto-x guys on the board. Very light, and they fit perfect

Yeah, I was kind of surprised that I didn't even have to use a spacer. But like you say they fit perfect, and if the shoe fits....

p.s. I did have to go out and buy different lugs for each car though, as those would not cross over.

They're okay, I would like them more if the spokes were thicker to support the visual weight of the SVX's style. They look kinda too skinny to me.

PS: Your wheels were on backwards! The front ones anyway. :P

Hahaha, I know, I saw that. It's funny because I posted these pictures on probetalk and someone else said the same thing, but he thought the back one was backwards.... silly boy.

Also, would I have gone with a different wheel if I had the choice?? Yeah... maybe. These were sitting right here though, brand new rubber and all, just going to waste so I figured I'd put them on and call it a day. If I find a nice thick spoked 17" like a mille miglia Evo, then yeah I'd probably put that on, but I really like these. Plus you can't argue with the improved response and handling offered by the reduced weight!

Yeah, that's true, but ... it just looks kinda silly, IMHO. The SVX looks like a heavy, badass grand turismo type cruiser. The RX7 wheels look like something you'd see on a lightweight miata. That's all I'm sayin. But heck yes, tear them up! I'm not one to condone letting rubbers go unused (ha).

I would like to see some like that in chrome. I think that would lighten up the all black look that the stock wheels do.

Earl, I do agree that chrome would look nice, and it did cross my mind to have my extra set chromed... Hmm, maybe I still will!

At any rate, here are a couple daytime photos that are of (marginally) better quality.

Sorry if I'm going overbaord, I'm just really pumped about this car! Woot!

Yes, the car does look good. There is a local SVX here that has the stock wheels chromed and it looks great. The black look is nice too. I don't think you are going overboard, we all love this car.

I'm thinking now that I may have the spare FD wheels I have chromed... DO you think that would look good on the car? It would give it a bit of a VIP feel while still contributing to fine handling.

Bad idea?? or...brainstorm of the century!!!

Eww. No way. Gold is for Imprezas. For rally subies. SVX= not a rally subie. Pretty much the opposite.
