Not exactly, but pretty damn close. There are differences in torque split and control, but basically, the wheels all turn (mostly, but that's a differential conversation)

The SVX 4eat has the active control. The 5 speed conversions generally use the continuous system.

DCCD is a manual control over the power spilt. This was available in SOME jdm 5 speeds and most sti 6 speeds. The one I have has DCCD but I have yet to get a controller to make it work, and pobobly never will

So then what is our front/rear bias? as far as positive awd I know thats impossible because in everyday situations the car has to be able to turn, and all 4 wheels cant be powered at all times because the inside and outer wheels much rotate at different speeds.

I wish we had locking differentials front and rear operated by a switch (STi)... if and when I need ALL wheel drive, I want awd

So can it send 100% to the front since I dont have my rear driveshaft installed?

Watch the videos on it that subaru provides on their site. You will have a better understanding. We have active AWD....STi's have DCCD

torque split depends on the conditions that the car is sensing. It caries from 90/10 to 60/40 I think but don't hold me to those #'s

Im assuming thats why on slippery surfaces my SVX will only spin one front and one rear wheel?

And if the bias is 60/40 then WHY make the front an open dif and the rear limited slip?

And if this awd is SO advanced then WHY didnt they design some longevity and heat dissipation into it as well? or is that because the transmission houses the front dif and therefore creates twice the heat to be dissipated?

I read chikes post.. it waivers between the 90/10-50/50. He is a genius... makes alot more sense now

So our awd cant send 100% to one wheel if thats the only wheel with traction? Oh well, still not bad for 1992

yes, you have 1 wheel drive. Same with the 5 speed guys... they have opne center and open front differentials. Limited slips and lockers are the onky way to step it up but as of now I don't think either are available for the auto

I read somewhere ours is at 60/40 because there's more weight in the front, the engine. Just an fyi.

See thats where you are missing the point. If the Transmission is telling the TCU that the rear wheels are losing traction it will put that power to the front. But if the front is not getting traction either you in essence have 1 wheel drive.
