!*&!#!@!#$$!!! (SVX on eBay...)

Just had to happen... The reserve is likely more than I can afford, but...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=31871

It's the exact SVX I want... '97... Ebony... 80k miles...

...and it's about 110 miles away in Kenosha, WI...

Ah well... So it goes....

I'll be over there... ----->
Beating my head against the wall...

(Someone with more financial clout than me buy it, and I'll take it off your hands in 6 months or so when my finances settle down.. )

Actually I've seen that auction and the wheel thing is worse. The driver's front wheel and the passenger rear wheel are both on backwards. That can't be good for the awd system...

Forgive me if I'm overlooking the obvious, but why would wheel direction have any bearing on the drivetrain? When we refer to a wheel being on "backward," it's actually just on the wrong side of the car. The wheels are of uniform diameter, and they don't care in which direction they roll.

Mis-matched tires are a different story.

Talked to the dealer selling it this morning. He doesn't know what the reserve was set for (he didn't list it.). But they've dealt with a couple SVX's before and bought one with a bad tranny, not knowing the extent of this.. Ever since, they've been fastidious about having such things checked out. He claims this one to be in perfect mechanical condition.

Sticker price is $9500.

Maybe I'll win the Powerball tonight and can pick her up...

It's not too far north of St. Louis, I might place a bid the last minute if it's under 7500.

It could be a problem if the tire pressures weren't adjusted accordingly.

Sure, but that's got nothing to do with the wheel. Having them crossed-up the way Chike mentioned does mean they were rotated diagonally, which I've always understood to be a bad practice with radials.

Could be he was kidding and I over-reacted...

Always fun to come in at the end of the debate...

But yeah, dcarrb you hit what I was getting at above. I felt the crossed-up wheels could mean they were rotated diagonally, which is definitely not good - especially if the owner was running any kind of -ve camber...
