Cool New (used SVX) slight probs

Hey guys,
I just got my svx 92 LS-L pearl. I love it drives great but I have some concerns.
The power light flashes when I start the car then goes off. But when I hit the gas it doesnt come on-- at all. Also the check engine light came on so I shut the car off and it went off. Happened twice----guess I have to bring it in to the dealer.
But besides that im very happy with the car.
Now I just need to sell my mustang !!!!

I dont have any helpful advice, except that there's a tech forum on the web if you want more tech-type advice (instead of advice from ignorant people like me lol). There's instructions on how to pull the codes for the check engine light floating around somewhere (I did it a few times, pretty easy), maybe I can find em. Congrats on getting the car!

If the POWER light flashes 16 times upon startup it is an indication of a transmission-related issue. Here is the document to show you how to do the diagnostic. At the end of each diagnostic the power light will blink a pattern. Count the blink pattern and refer to the code chart for interpretation.

Long blinks are counted as 10's and short blinks are counted as 1's. In other words, two long blinks and two short blinks would be a code 22. One long blink and one short blink would be a Code 11.

HI Guys (and girls),

Thanks for all the info, you all kick A$$.
Im going to test the codes as soon as i get a chance.
I got the power light to come on today while I was driving.
I went to pass a 18 wheeler and stomped on the gas---then there it was, that sweet green power light Then I hit the gas hard again and nothing?? So I stomped on it and it came on again . Im not to sure if its just my svx or if you all have to mash the peddle to get the light to come on? But i'll check the code myself now so that should help.

P.S. I'm lovin this car. I had a 2000 mustang gt with alot of performance mods about 350hp. My winter car was a suzuki samuari With no heat (which I rolled into a swamp and junked!!).
I miss the crazy power of the mustang but I love the luxery and ride of the svx not to mention the AWD, better gas milage, cheaper insurance and more space for me and 3 other pasangers (when I go out). So to me right now this is the perfect car, all I need is to get my 15" sub in ( this week), an autostart and some 17" rims( in the summer), and Ill be loving winter (and summer) driving. Heater works and all

Well thanks again for all the help!!!!!!!!

power light

SVXXX,

There was a thread a while back about 'tightening' the throttle cable.
Check through the 'search' feature here on the network, for a good description.
It is VERY easy, and might help you w/a more consistent 'power mode'.
Good luck and enjoy your new 'ride'

Significant Technical Input
The 'power' light only comes on after a specific rate of throttle application speed and distance is achieved. In other words, just nonchalantly flooring the pedal isn't quite enough, mashing it quickly will cause it to come on. The only thing that happens when you see it come on is the shift points are elevated, i.e. the engine rpm at which shifting occurs will be higher.

Talking fixed

Hey,
I read that post about the throotle wire before I got my car
Did it 2 days after. Before I did it alot of play on the wire after allitle better and the power light would come on only when I mashed the pedal. Today I tighened it up more( without raising throttle) and wam!!! it now comes on whenevr I press the pedal to the floor, nice!!!! Also My shift pionts raised alittle Must not have been hitting W.O.T. but I am now!!! I also dried the moisture in the rear lights and resealed them-- again - sweet!
Thanks for everything !!! good luck
P.S. Im thinking of dressing up my svx for halloween- maybe a nice ferrari costume

Another sure-fire way to get into power mode is to lift off the gas immediately before mashing it.
