I don't like driving moutain roads at the best of times, so it was white knuckle all the way through the snow covered roads to Keelowna B.C. I had never sean a Pearl SVX. Was partial to black and burgundy. The dealer has prewarned me that the city had just put an island down the centre of the road and I would have to drive by the lot and turn around. So I make the turn and start heading back down the highway. There it is right out front. I get out of the truck to have a look. The car doesn't have the factory mags, but the picture in the add did. I sigh, a little disapointed. I have a look around for my sales man. Low and behold I am at the wrong dealership. Half a block down I end up at the right place. And threr she is. The salesman goes into his sales mode which really wasn't necessary. The car was beautiful. It looked brandnew inside and out. I take the car for a spin alone. Ok this next part is true I swear. I pull in to the Subaru dealer in town I drive by all the new subys into the used car section, thinking you never know there may be three of them in this town. The salesgirl comes out of the little building. Whats that. I swear this is true. She has never sean an svx. She can't believe the car is 11 years old. I tell her two lots over is another one. This one is mine. The day began at 5 in the morning the car was mine by 5:30 that night. The insurance agent says you drove this far to buy a car. Well it's not just any car come on outside.
The trip home was great, sun shinning allthe way.I washed it twice along the way. My family wasn't keen on me purchasing a white car. When they finnaly saw it the next day in the sun light it was thumbs up. My wife reallyliked the Burgundy ones. She changed her mind.

Ok is it just me or is it the rearview mirror? At a stoplight is the guy behind you right on your bumper?

Tom

Tom,
That's a great story! As you might notice, I'm partial to Pealies myself.

As far as the "on your bumper," does yours have the spoiler? They say a person is on your bumper when you can't see their headlights. Well, you COULD see them, if the spoiler weren't blocking them.

Congratulations, and welcome to the SVX OWNER's club.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

Tom, as Randy said, that is a good stpry - thanks for sharing. I hope your SVX serves you well.

As for the tailgating, that's difficult to call. The back end of the SVX does stick up a little, obscuring vision somewhat. But I think Randy's 'headlight' maxim is an old one. Cars today are of such varying heights and styling, I don't think such a blanket prescription is applicable any more. Maybe when he got his license, and all cars had oil lamps for headlights, but not these days.
