Torque sense

I think the most important part of parenting is to show your child that he or she is loved and valued, and by this means, instill in the child a sense of belonging, a sense of being loved, a sense of self-worth.

It is then so much easier to get the kid to see that this worth resides in other children, other people, and so they can understand the need to extend the respect to others. We could learn a lot from our Japanese friends on this.

"Do unto others...."

I don't think parenting is instinctive, or any more easily learned than being a good doctor or plumber or mechanic. Any parents taking their childrearing seriously would do worse than take professional advice on it and read up on anything relevant. If you don't see your mistakes, you're gonna keep on making them...

Joe

Thumbs up

Just for the yucks of it, & to celebrate number 2222, I've decided to dredge up one of the best threads of all time (IMHO). It started over two years ago & blends some wit & wisdom from old members with more of the same from some familiar faces. The thread may even have something to do with SVXes, but I can't guarantee it.

Ron (Yup - things were better in the "old" days).

Thanks Ron,

This was worth revisiting.

Since that time, I have lost my Dad and Randy lost his Mom, probably others lost parents and loved ones too.

Where is lightning? Still around?

Joe

Congrats on the 2222. I'm celebrating 1950, my birth year

JP last posted in April of this year, after a long hiatus. I believe he sold the SVX. His comments were always a good read. Yours too, Joe. Keep up the good banter.

Ron.

Now

That's the kind of thread I remember...(oh wait... I wasn't here in 6/01....)

You know, when us more mature (in age) guys do this kind thread now.. we get hell from the 19 year olds ....

Thanks Ron... for a good re-read!

I own JP's SVX now. I still stay in touch with him, but not as much as I would like to.

He is always good for a funny story or comment.
