After months of tinkering with airbag..it's fixed.
This one was a doozie...I have always had a constant airbag light so years ago I removed the lightbulbs in the instrument panel. The dealership at the time could not figure out why my fuses were blowing. They were 5 hours into the job and didn't have a clue. So a few months ago I'd figure I would give it a try again myself. I replaced the CU the first time and it finally stopped my #8 fuse blowing so I could actually read the codes. The old CU had both safety sensors blown.
Once the CU was replaced I was getting #3, 14, 31 codes. I then proceeded to replace the main harness...pulled out the carpet, glovebox, about 100 screws it seemed. Hooked everything up and got only the #3 and 31 codes. I then replaced both front sensors...I thought #3 would be solved right? Nope. I checked the resistance and both sensors were infact good. Code #31 took me to figure out what was wrong with #16 fuse. I checked voltage and found out the small green/yellow wire was bad from the body harness to the fusebox. I made a small jumper from that fuse to the main connector. Success, my airbag codes have all gone away and the light has disappeared. I thought I would share incase anyone is struggling with airbag problems. Many thanks to Redlightningsvx for assisting me with interpreting schematics and troubleshooting. |

Re: After months of tinkering with airbag..it's fixed.
Wow what good timing, last night I did a search on air bags and got zipp, I also have the A B L on my "parts car", I have not really looked into it as I have zero experience with this stuff, but I was wondering where to start. The car has been in a L F collision but has been repared, although not well, I am thinking front sensors not replaced after the crash. After I swap the tranny I'll dive into that A B L Anyway thanks for the info and good work..........G

Haha funny....
What year is your car gbianchi? I have an OBD I (pre 96) and I use the test connector provided to read the codes. That's the easiest way to figure out what is going on and to see if your sensors are faulty. Yeah not too many people on the forum with airbag issues. I went elbows deep into this one. |

Re: After months of tinkering with airbag..it's fixed.
In the picture attached it's figure 6
A black 10-pin connector and you should have two black w/blue strip wires near it to plug into any of those pin terminals. It's under the kickpanel fusebox. |

Re: After months of tinkering with airbag..it's fixed.
Codes are 21 and 2 . 21 is Faulty Airbag control unit I believe. 2 could be various shorts or the control unit also?

I got mine used from a member.
Based on your codes you may need a CU....PM me I have a working one. |

Re: After months of tinkering with airbag..it's fixed.
#2 code may be because the CU unit is faulty. You may solve both problems with fixing the CU
