Angry Cruise Control no longer works!

Got crankcase breather and put car back together. Started just fine. After driving I noticed the tran fluid was really low so I added a quart. Driving back to school I pressed the cruise control button and noticed the orange light flashed but didn't stay on; I pressed it again and it came on but I wasn't able to set the cruise. Now what?!

Check out this pic: http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...2phat/2602.jpg

Hopefully it is only that and nothing else <fingers crossed>

Thanks; I'll check that out in the morn (it's wet outside). I would like to think that it's a fuse or one of those hoses; that's probably what it is since I disconnected a bunch of stuff and banged around a bunch of other stuff getting that big air hose thing off and on. The only thing that bothers me though is how the light flickered the first time I pressed it but not since then...

If your fuse is blown, it would also blow your ABS and electronically controlled power steering (they're on the same circuit). The fuse for cruise (I made a rhyme ) is #18 in the fuse box in the driver's kick panel.

I often have to press my cruise button multiple times to get it to come on. It's probably the vacuum hose Brian pointed out. Good job on the pic, Brian.

Great diagnosis! Went out this morning and sure enough the hose was disconnected. That's the easiest thing I've fixed so far. Thanks!

When I picked my car up from the dealer the other day, I got the same lump in my throat.. Fortunately, they just pulled the hose off by accident when working on the A/C. There isn't a lot of slack in it, so it's a fairly natural thing to have happen.

FWIW, I also have to mash the CRUISE button sometimes 3-4-5 times to get the light to "stick" on. I suspect the switch is just old and flakey.

You are correct...the switches aparrently get some corrosion in them because they don't get used too often. It is a common condition for many of us... I suppose you can 'excersise' it and it would probably get better
