help with radio illumination bulb
Hi everyone,
My SVX radio/cd/tape unit blew the lamp that illuminates the radio station, and changing stations at night has become a problem! Has anyone had to replace theirs, and, if so, was it easy or complicated? I have never had my radio out of the dash, so I am unfamiliar with the radio removal / replacement technique. Thanks,

I've looked at this problem, and, unfortunately, you'll need to do some solder work if you're going to replace it.
Unlike the CD player, the circuit board does not simply "unplug" from the rest of the unit. The pins are soldered in. You's have to unsolder the pins and pull the circuit board (after unscrewing the two screws on the front of the board). Then, you'd have to unsolder the bulb unit (the bulb and and holder are soldered onto the circuit board as a unit). Luckily, I have two radio units. I plan on replacing the bulbs on one. If I screw it up, the bulbs will stay burnt in the "good" one. Have fun!
