i really think subaru has probably be the ballsiest (new word i say) automaker in a while... besides MAYBE pontiac... and that thing they call the aztek... but lets see: SVX, introduced as a crazy futuristic sweet car, WRX first rally 4 door turbo to really hit the US, then evo, neon srt4 and skyline(think in a couple years) then they busted out the STi in about a year and a half after first bringing over the WRX... both the SVX and the WRX are both sports car-esque and both very original in their "genre" of cars.... at least over here

What's in a name, Horatio ?

How about Ford's new crossover between a minivan and a station wagon called the Frustration or Dodge's new forward-backward-sideways look, the Duodecagon. For a technological tour de force there's always the Cadillac Contraption.
Then there's Fiat's Fixitagaintony and let's not forget the Jaguar Junk. Back in the states we were blessed with the American Motors Accident and the Rambler Rustbucket.
For the sporty types there's the Maserati Mishap.
Advertising types like Italian sounding names . That's probably why the new Pontiac Fiero will be called the Pozzo (crazy).
Finally, I remember a car with portholes in the front fenders, the Buick Boring.

Personally, I like the those 2 new , top of the line, luxury cars; The Rolls Rolyce Chauvinist, and the Maybach Ostentatious.

I also heard that Peterbuilt and GM have signed an agreement to develop and market a new super SUV. It is to be called the 'RD' for 'Resource Depleter'.

I don't know, Don.

"Procyon" sounds like a prescription drug for depression. But that may be a good thing if it's marketed as a fun times, go-anywhere vehicle. I can see it now..."Procyon - The cure for the summertime blues!" accompanied by imagery of 20-somethings parked by the beach playing volleyball and having a blast with surf boards everywhere.

"Regulus" sounds like an antidote for constipation. That too could be turned into a positive if it is marketed as a no-holds-barred sports car. I can see that now too...imagery of a dark scene and the lights slowly coming up while a brooding yet exciting tempo slowly builds. As the scene brightens we find an evil looking, black car...Subarus newest entry into the high performance world that makes them the winners in the performance wars. An announcer with a voice that could give John Wayne goose bumps says... "Regulus - It will scare the crap out of you." Cut to black.

Regular Regulus

Someone might want to correct me on this, but I believe there was a cruise-type missle during the early days of the Cold War that was called the Regulus. I tend to remember it along with the Honest John, Bomark, Nike, and Nike-Ajax....among others.

If Volkswagen can buy a classic name like Buggati...and create a new car with a historic name, maybe Subaru could do the same.

The idea just strikes a Cord with me somehow....
"Stutz!.....by Subaru!" The return of the Bearcat....

How 'bout an evil twin metallic pink model for the ladies?

Yup - the "Slutz"

Ron (Why not? Ford has an "Escort").

A common thing is to buy up another manufacturer and use their trademarks, like BMW did with the mini.

I have heard that Lada is for sale

Underpowered?

If the new Legacy has 250hp, that would be nice. Even better would be the Japanese version.

What I don't understand, is why the new flat-six engine(s)?

After putting in all the R&D with the SVX engine, which is bulletproof, why do another one? What are the advantages of the new design?

Don

The 3.0L is like 1" or something longer than the 2.5L . So the advantages of it's designe was that it could fit right in where a 2.5L was already, an EG33 won't.

The long and the short of it...

<The 3.0L is like 1" or something longer than the 2.5L . So the advantages of it's designe was that it could fit right in where a 2.5L was already, an EG33 won't>

Any idea about how much bigger our engines are length-wise?

Not of the top of my head but seems they were not concerned with space when they made it, I would imagine it's about 1 cylinder longer than a 2.2L.
