???? Heard Saltwater by Chicane? Celion Dion doesn't sing it. I have no idea what you are talking about.

Another great song by Chicane would be "autumn tactics". Or, try some Hooverphonic. They do some of the music in the jaguar commercials.

rob-

i just picked up the Chicane - "Love on the Run" 12" not bad at all.. pretty mean bassline. do you have the DV vinyl with the kitties on it?

-adam

also, check out the new song by JunkieXL feat. Sasha - Breezer.. great song for a nice sunny day...

with the advent of spring, i find myself listening to a lot of Doobie Brothers, Bob Marley, and Boston.. i love the looks i get with the stereo cranked blaring classic rock and driving the LAST car someone would expect to see with "american" music pouring out of the windows

It seems that everyone missed the point. My original post stated that I thought that track #1 on the new Celion Dion CD was a good song for fast driving. Then everyone posted what kind of music they liked or disliked.

That's like saying that you dislike all Italian Americans and like all Polish Americans. Songs and people should be liked or diliked on an individual basis, I am a Doo Wopper. Not all Doo Wop is good and not all Chinese opera is bad.

If music evokes this much controversy, it's a good thing that we don't discuss race, creed, or religion.

i think with Celine Dion, its either love it or hate it. Ministry's "Jesus Built my Hotrod" is a great driving tune, IMHO, but i'm sure you'd pretty much hate it.
the thread WAS titled "Driving Music", and you know on rare occaision threads can go off-topic on here a bit.

Not really, Larry. If someone posts an opinion to a bulletin board like this, isn't it pretty much normal practice for others to post THEIR opinion or a counter-opinion? Isn't that how these groups grow?

And if you want a discussion of what people like for FAST driving, then personally may I suggest "Ride of the Valkyries" played at highest possible volume... sunroof open... windows down. Gets some wonderful stares from the local fauna

... OTOH if you want an opinion of Celine Dion... well personally I feel I can either take or leave her. Some of her stuff is pretty good... but most of it's pretty much the same. She's a pretty good singer, though... just not much of a songwriter.

I drove all night...

Don't forget, Celine didn't come up with this song herself...

I drove all night

Music is an expression of emotion, Larry. Therefore any discussion of musical will be an emotional thing. Kind of hard to do without raising some strong opinions and comments. It's really no different than religious or political discussions.

Once again, both you guys fellows missed the point. I am not praising or damning Celion Dion music. I am praising only the first track of her new album and only for driving fast. I am not saying that she sings this tune well or poor. At the time I started this thread, I had not even listened to the rest of the tunes (tracks) on her album.

I can't make it any clearer than that.

I give up.

Larry - not sure if your last comment was partially directed at me or not. But while I agree that anyone that has been on these forums as long as you should not be at all surprised or offended if your thread goes to what you consider off topic, my particular post was not meant in any way to attack your opinion, Celine Dion, or her music. I just posted it for a bit of humor and trivia to lighten the mood. And the link I posted also has the words to the song if you are interested.

Don't give up Larry. I've seen your point the whole time. I was just surprised that you were not prepared for what had happened to your simple observation of that particular song. How's this..I have not heard that song yet so I cannot agree or disagree with you on it. I think Celine has a great technical voice but I've never been fond of her material. Most of her music makes me want to go to sleep or comes across as so sappy that I turn it off with gusto. "I drove all night" might just be a change for the better from her (IMHO) and I would be happy to listen to it sometime and let you know if I agree with your opinion.

Talking

We've been down the "favorite music" road a few times before. I'll stick by my previous choice. "Driver's Seat" by one hit wonder, "Sniff 'n the Tears" - early '80s I think.

Now...back to the Celine Dion Radio Network.

Ron.
