Re: The wife has discovered performance

Isn't the BRZ only 2-wheel drive.....really against the AWD rules that Subaru hold as their ace card.

Re: The wife has discovered performance

What about a flat6 or turbo 4th gen Legacy/Liberty? Should perform in the ballpark of an SVX and is a way, way better looking car than the latest Subaru Camry.

Re: The wife has discovered performance

Seriously I am sure you can find a good SVX with under 100,000 miles, you just may have to travel to get it. They have been popping up with increasing frequency. Get the car spend some money on new seals, and fluid changes, upgrade your AAA membership and you should be set. I don't see this as a problem, more of a golden opportunity to get another SVX.

Re: The wife has discovered performance

this sounds like what happened with my girlfriend after she drove my car...except i wasnt in the car with her lol

after she comes to pick me up she is telling how her drive was using sounds like "vrrrrrrrrom" "zoom" and "whoosh" as she says she was passing "slow" people on the highway

she now wants something "fast"

Re: The wife has discovered performance

Here is an option that, if it has the available limited slip fron diff, will have most of the benefits of AWD. It should have some pep without maybe being too much for her:

If you're looking for handling, Subaru isn't the first car that comes to mind for me.

Hyundai Sonata Turbo? Look decent, decent performance, good warranty, cant say what the handling is like, though.

Gonna get heat for this, but a 2012 camry se v6, while not awd, is a good alternative.

Plenty fast (14.3 1/4 mile), 30 mpg, decent handling. No worries of turbo maintenance, but the styling may not be to people's taste. I test drove both and found the Sonata/Optima turbo setup to be lacking although the handling was tighter.

Doesnt the V6 Camry have more hp than the Legacy GT? Might be too extreme for her.

Re: The wife has discovered performance

If cost is not important, how about a nice Panamera4
All wheel drive, 300 hp, very sporty GT.

The second time was last Saturday. Out of nowhere, she asked if we could take a trip in the SVX and maybe she could drive it.

Long story condensed. She discovered the stability, the ride the smoothness, the handling of Nevin's swaybar on the twisties and POWER mode. Now she realizes the performance aspect of driving that was missing in the Outback and has become hooked on the fun again.

She now has a much better understanding of my love for this car.

Here is the dilemma.

She would like an SVX of her own Color doesn't matter too much, but condition does. She wants one as least as nice as mine. Tall order. She loves silver, but that means a 20 year old car

.
So she has a better understanding of your love for this car... this SVX!

I can't believe that all these clowns think that you said your wife wants a car... If you really don't know what a woman means when she said she "fell in love with SVX again, instead of thinking she actually means that she would like to buy a car... Anyhow, at my house the wife actually explains things to me so I understand! Apparently not the same everywhere.

My wife and I tried out several different new cars, we quickly discovered that nothing compares to the SVX. Hyundai looks good, but a new Hyundai... Nah, no comparison to driving a SVX.
We really wanted to get a new car and we were actually surprised that we couldn't find another brand that we could live with.

Your wife likes silver SVX... our silver has only 52K and change on it. We would not sell it for $20K Our white pearl has 72K and change, and we wouldn't sethat one for $20K either. Selling either of those would be sort of like selling out Siberian Husky. Our burgundy looking one has 200K+ on it, and we would sell it for 20K... That is probably about what I have spent on it the first 3 years we had it!

Just give her your car, and start over!!

Keith
