Re: Getting Krown rustproofing tomorrow

No galvanizing process lasts forever. My car lived its first 14ish years in TN and GA so there was practically no corrosion on it and it still looks really nice underneath and inside the body panels. I am just trying to keep it that way as long as I can. I would like to squeeze another 7 or so years out of it, if possible.

Re: Getting Krown rustproofing tomorrow

The bottom line in my opinion is that Krown works. Both Krown and Rust Check (which I use) have an agent that drives out moisture. The fluidity of the product allows it to seep in everywhere. It isn't a waxy product that will trap water. Yes it does drip but it's not all that bad. You should wash your car regularly anyway. I keep a separate rag for the rocker panels and bottom of the doors.

Krown is the only product endorsed by the Canadian Automobile Association.

Re: Getting Krown rustproofing tomorrow

How long after the application do you usually wait before the first wash?

They wash it for you right after the application. It's part of their process.

It is not so much as to prevent rust but to stop rust. You paint it over the existing rust coming through panels. I used it on my rusted rotors to make them look good again. I have had one time where it totally failed, but that was my fault because I didn't think that I needed to prep the surface (the more it has to bite to the better, red scotch-brite works best to prep surface followed by degreaser) and the paint peeled off like rubber. POR-15 likes to have some rust to bite onto, so just get the biggest stuff chipped off but don't grind down to bare metal. So far it has lasted 500 miles on my svx rotors. I totally trust the stuff, but read the back label.

Weird, never read a bad thing about this product...
Are you sure it is about that specific product from POR-15?
